For those of you who dislike the weapon switching system in Half-Life games I've made a guide to help all of you usurp the wretched system and turn the battle of City 17 to your favor with a modern weapon switch system!

How to bind an individual weapon to your desired key(s)
To set these commands up we need to open the developer console in game. To do this simply press the ~ key (beneath escape) to open the console.

If the console doesn't open immediately you likely have it disabled in the advanced settings.

Once opened up you can write out the key you want to bind followed by pasting in the command associated with quick-switching to the weapon.

EXAMPLE:
bind "3" "use weapon_smg1"

After hitting 'enter' the bind should be applied. Test it out!

bind "x" "use weapon_pistol"

bind "x" "use weapon_357"
