Introduction
Garry's Mod's new Gamemode is here, Hunger Games.

In this gamemode you battle it out to become the last man standing. No respawns until the next round starts.

Up to 20 players fighting it out.

Form teams by trusting the right people, teams are selected as misc, you just go around and find a player and either fight, run or team with them.

Sometimes you will be assigned a teammate when you spawn, this teammate is very valuable if you're a new player. They can teach and help you if you stay with them. You cannot injure this player nor can they injure you.

After 8 minutes of scavenging and killing, deathmatch will start. Deathmatch is where the remaining players are teleported to an area on the map to fight it out, no teams are allowed at this point so you will have to fight your teammates.

A large package will fall from the sky at exactly 2 minutes in. It will have green smoke coming from it so that players can see it easier, the package opens 1 Minute and 30 seconds after it lands.

If you're new to the gamemode you will spawn with a baseball bat and a shield, use them wisely.

Rules
The Rules for Hungergames are mostly stable and wont change very often, at the moment the rules are as shown.

1. Do not disrespect other players

- Meaning: No racism, or criticism to other players in-game, if a player is doing this to you or others then do not do it back, this makes matters worse and could result in you being punished.

2. Max team size of 3 (teams include ignoring other players)

- Meaning: If you have made/found yourself a team, you are only allowed to have a maximum of 3 members in it. If you find yourself with over 3 players then you need to resolve this problem by either selecting a team member and attacking them, you cannot split your team in two halves and ignore eachother.

3. No glitching/hacking/cheating in any shape or form

- Meaning: No exploiting the map, if you find a glitch or something that players could benefit from by cheating then report this on admin chat "@" or make a server bug complaint on the forums.

4. No mic or chat spam

- Meaning: Do not play music through your mic even if a few people say they like it, most players don't. Also no screaming/shouting/or weird noises into the mic. No spamming the chat, eg. Saying the same thing over and over again within the space of 1-5 seconds from the last message.

5. No ghosting/metagaming (disclosing location of other players or items while dead)

- Meaning: No telling players locations of other players whilst dead, if you're alive then this is okay, but only if the person you are telling you the information is alive aswell. No telling them where items/beartraps/mines are either. Unless you are both/all alive.

6. Do not camp ladders or warp points or attack players using or exiting them

- Meaning: Do not stay at the top or bottom of a ladder or a warp point and wait for players to exit them so you can attack straight away, this also means if you're on the ladder do not attack anyone as soon as you exit it, wait a second or two.

7. Do not use warp points or surf during combat or to run from other players

- Meaning: Do not use a warp point to teleport away from an attacker, and do not surf away or during combat.

8. Do not jump onto ladders from a height during combat or to run from other players

- Meaning: You are allowed to use a ladder to "escape" combat. but jumping from a height and catching onto a ladder to escape combat is not allowed.

9. Do not door spam (spamming "use" on a door so players can't get in)

- Meaning: Do not keep pushing a door open and closed so that a player can't get in or out.

10. Do not ask for or about ranks (known, trusted, admin, etc.)

- Meaning: Do not ask staff members to give you a rank and don't talk about recieving ranks in-game.

11. Listen to staff at all times, even if it's not a rule.

- Meaning: Do not argue with staff, what staff say goes. If you feel the staff are being unfair then make a staff complaint on the forums and remember to provide proof!

12. Do not run, hide or otherwise delay the round in deathmatch.

- Meaning: The rule pretty much states the meaning, No need to add anything else.

13. Do not interfere with a 1v1 in DM.

-Meaning: In deathmatch players will be assigned other players to fight in a 1v1, if their are 3 players 1 player will have to stand and watch until they are finished fighting, if this "spectating" player inteferes by - Jumping in the way, Giving a player a medkit, Pushing a player or blinding them, Jumping on a players head and distracting a player in anyways shape or form.

14. Do not follow players who are in spawn protection.

- Meaning: Do not follow a player who has just spawned in and has spawn protection on or who is green, you may do this if the player agrees that you both are a team together.

Breaking any of these rules will result in a punishment in-game. You have been warned.
Basic Combat Guide
This is the basic melee combat guide, this will show you the basic controls.

Combat How-To

- To block, hold down the right mouse button

- Hold Mouse1 to charge attacks

- For a more effective block, aim directly at the center of your enemy

- To parry and stun your opponent, block just before the attack hits

Your block will become weaker the longer you hold block. There is a bar that should show up at the top right of your screen when holding block, when the green is gone that means you are no longer blocking but the animation will stay the same until you stop holding block.

However, the longer you hold attack button the more damage it will do, there is also a bar at the top right when holding the attack button. You will swing automatically when the bar is full, if you want to swing fast without having to charge your weapon then hold e when attacking.

Press ALT to super jump. (more information on this in the advanced guide)

- First and most useful combat and movement key is to ALT jump. ALT jumping pushes a player forward, combining this with the basic jump and crouch key can send a player up and forward. This can be useful for attacking players or running from players, or even just to get around loot spawns faster!

1. Stick with the teammate you are assigned with and make sure to watch each others back.

2. Find a weapon in Caves/Buildings to Fight enemies.

3. Occasionally check your map by pressing "M" to see if you have any enemies following you or Ahead of you.

4. If you spot a enemy with a stronger weapon Lose them before you get spotted and killed.

5. Make sure to search Buildings occasionally for Enemies with Bows, They can kill you from a far distance.

6. if you find a bow, Do NOT try to Fight close range as it slows your player down while holding the weapon. Far range gives you a great advantage against enemies.

7. Once Deathmatch has begun make sure you try to find a shield, It can protect you while others are killing each other.

8. Try to remain alive during the deathmatch let the others kill eachother until its a 1v1 (Do not delay)

9. If you have a katana or a melee weapon try to strafe left and right to avoid being Hit by your enemy and also don`t be afraid to Rush him/her if they are using a bow it gives you an advantage.

10. If the enemy is injured and a player sends them a Healthkit via Sponsor Try to Steal it and use it for yourself or KIll him while he/she has it in their Hands.

Advanced Combat Guide
The most important thing in the Hunger Games is to learn the combat and keep your play style up to date with the on going updates that occur regularly in The Hunger Games since it's an Alpha Game mode.

I have a few tips and tricks to keep you on your feet in-game, here are a few:

Tip 1: Keep Moving - A simple tip, just basically keep moving, you never know when someone has their eye on you with there bow or when someone is gonna come around a corner and catch you off guard.

Tip 2: Keep your melee weapon out when not in combat, doing so will ensure atleast a good block if an enemy surprises you!

Tip 3: If chasing someone and they run around a corner and into a narrow alleyway and they have some sort of throwing weapon or bow, try and avoid following them and instead try to cut them off, obviously if you have a throwing weapon/bow then feel free to take a shot.

Tip 4: When in combat try and aim your block in the centre of your oponent, thus ensuring a better block and keeping your health at a high.

Tip 5: Defensive oponents? - If you're fighting a player and you realise that they are only attacking after you swing/hit their block then do this: Charge up a full attack and strike their block, this will stun them, right after your successful stun, use the "e" attack for speed and it will guarantee you a hit. Repeat this and see how strong your oponent really is.

Those are my 5 quick tips, I will now list 3 of my best tips when using a bow.

Bow Tip 1: If your oponent is running at you, when he/she realises that you have a bow in-hand, they will start to zig-zag or even just try and run to the side of you, if this happens then keep your bow on their body, getting the speed they are moving at and then aim a little infront of them. When you do this it basically makes the player collide with the arrow whilst they are running. If the player is zig-zaging then try and see a patern in their movements and take a shot, also aiming a little in-front of them.

Bow Tip 2: When in close combat with a player and you know that you're screwed and that you have a bow that could save your life, find a corner or something to run to and pull your bow out this can confuse your oponent and lead to a healthy shot then you can quickly switch to your melee and strike them.

Bow Tip 3: If a player has been running at you and you keep missing, then stop trying because if they get close enough to hit you, you will get stunned and drop your bow leaving you with your fists out and not being able to change weapon due to the stun. Try and take out your melee moments before they get near and block, don't swing, just block their first attack and then ready yourself for a melee fight.
Equipment Guide
In the Hunger Games players can set traps all over the map, these traps include Mines and Beartraps:

  • Mines - will kill you instantly when close enough. Have a slight delay after being placed to activate.
  • Beartraps - Will freeze the player and wound them, player can break free by swinging there melee weapon at the beartrap.
  • Healthkits - are very useful equipment, if you get injured in a fight or naturally then a player may heal themself with a medkit by holding down left-click when having the medkit in hand.
  • Gascans - can set ground on fire for a short period of time, if close enough to player the gascan cat set the player on fire causing damage to them and partially blinding their sight.
  • Binoculars - Used for zooming in to the landscape or for seeking players locations from a safe distance. If the map is at night time a player can switch their binoculars to night vision, enabling them to see through the thick darkness.
Misc

- Buildings are always good spots to find equipment

- Avoid groups of people for they are more likely to be hostile

- Your map's medium-range radar activates when there are 6 or less people alive, or after 5 minutes into the round

- You will be teleported to a deathmatch area after 8 minutes into the round

- In parkour mode, jump at a wall and press Mouse 1 to climb, holding Mouse 2 will grab onto a ledge if it faces upwards

- Only people near you can hear your voice chat

- Use team chat to talk only in your local area

- You earn credits by winning the round

- You earn 4 experience for winning and 1 for killing

- Alive players can not hear or read spectator chat
Spectating
You will be put into the spectator area -You can switch from the spectator area to freecam by hitting ALT on your keyboard- if you have joined during a round or you have died during a round. The spectator lounge has a few features:

  • Sparring Zone
- Players can choose a weapon and then practice against other players who are in the spectator lounge.

  • Projectile Range
- Players can master their marksmanship by practicing with throwing weapons and bows. When you hit a target it will go green and appear to fall out of the sky, then it will shortly re-appear.

  • Betting Table
-If the round is under 2 minutes in, a player can bet a number of credits on an alive player. If the player that they bet for wins, the player will receive twice as many as they originally bet. Players bet with Credits, see more info on credits and their use here

Oh yes, the gas can can also set projectiles on fire if you do E + Attack when a projectile is equipped.

Weapon speed is determined on the size of the weapon, eg. Bat's are small so tend to swing faster. Swords, shovels, sledges are all slower but have bigger impact.
