--Um pouco de informação--

Após o fim da segunda guerra mundial, o M24 Chaffee foi considerado obsoleto para os seguintes anos e, com isso, o desenvolvimento de um veículo para executar as funções do Chaffee começou, e prosseguiu lentamente, com testes e armamento de 76mm para combater outros carros de combate. Quando a guerra da Coréia começou nos anos 50, o veículo foi encomendado em grande quantidade pelo o exército norte-americano, obrigando a Cadillac, o fabricante do veículo, a terminar o projeto nas pressas para atender a demanda do exército. Isto resultou em um veículo relativamente problemático, pesado demais para ser um veículo de reconhecimento como o Chaffee, problemas técnicos e compartimentos apertados trouxeram ao veículo uma reputação medíocre. O veículo, nesse tempo, foi designado de "Little Bulldog" e, posteriormente, após um acidente que resultou na morte do General Walker nos teste de Aberdeen Proving Ground, foi designado "Walker Bulldog" em homenagem ao mesmo.

Com o passar do tempo, o veículo passou por melhorias na torre, simplificando o sistema de tiro, eliminando problemas nas transmissões e na torre, resultando nas variações M41A1, M41A2 e M41A3. Apesar dos esforços em melhorar o veículo, a reputação efetivamente "matou" o veículo no exército norte-americano, recebendo um corte financeiro no projeto do Walker Bulldog.

Muitos dos Walker Bulldogs foram enviados para muitos países como a Nova Zelândia, Vietnã do Sul, Holanda e Brasil.

-<O seu serviço no Brasil>-

Durante os anos 60, o Brasil recebeu centenas de blindados dos tipos M41A1, A2 e A3, substituindo os antigos M3 Stuart como a espinhal dorsal do Exército Brasileiro, sendo utilizados até os anos 2000 e 2010.
Nos anos 70 e 80, o poder de fogo desses blindados se tornaram obsoletos, então a Bernardini S/A começou o processo de modernização dos blindados, aumentando a proteção do veículo com blindagem extra, a substituição do motor original pelo um motor da Scania, possuindo a mesma velocidade mas com uma autonomia bastante aumentada e a modificação do canhão de 76mm para utilizar munições de 90mm.

O resultado foram as versões M41B e M41C, denominados de "Caxias", bastante superiores ao antigo M41 em diversos aspectos.

No Século XXI, os veículos permaneceram em uso, mas demonstraram sinais severos de obsoletismo no quesito tecnológico e bélico, com o canhão de 90mm sendo inferior aos canhões de 105mm, 120mm e 125mm. Existe até registros que o canhão de 76mm era superior.

Não levou muito tempo para o veículo ser posto em um estado de reserva, treinamento e, posteriormente, aposentadoria.

No final da década de 2010, o Uruguai encomendou a entrega de 25 blindados M41C Caxias para o exército uruguaio, após uma longa discussão para a aquisição desses veículos.

Em 2018, esses veículos foram entregues ao Uruguai, entrando em serviço pouco tempo depois.

--A bit of Information--

After the second world war, the M24 Chaffee was declared obsolete as a recon vehicle within the following years, giving the green light for the development of a new vehicle to serve the same functions as the chaffee. The development was initiated, and progressed slowly, going through testings and recieving a 76mm cannon to combat other tanks. As the Korean War started in the 1950s, the US Army required a large quantity of the type, forcing Cadillac, the manufacturer of the vehicle, to finish the vehicle in rather hurried manner in order to attend the army's request. This resulted in a relatively problematic tank, too heavy to be a recon vehicle, let alone a light tank, like the Chaffee, and various technical problems brought a mediocre reputation to the vehicle. The vehicle, at this time, was designated "Little Bulldog" and, a while later, after a tragic accident that resulted in General Walker's death at Aberdeen Proving Ground, the tank was designated "Walker Bulldog" after the general.

With time, the vehicle recieved significant upgrades and fixes in the M41A1, A2 and A3 variants, but the reputation had already "killed" the project as a whole in the US Army, resulting in a finantial cut from the entire project.

Large numbers of these vehicles were sent to various countries like South Vietnam, New Zealand and Brazil.

-<Brazilian service>-

During the 60's, Brazil had recieved hundreds of M41A1, A2 and A3s, replacing the old M3 Stuarts as the main armour spearhead of the brazilian army until the 2000s and 2010s.
In the 70s and 80s, the firepower of these vehicle had already fallen into inadequacy, so Bernardini S/A started a program to modernize the type, increasing protection via extra layers of armour, replacing the old engine with a Scania engine, increasing effective range significantly whilst retaining the same speed and modifying the gun to increase the bore from 76mm to 90mm to allow the usage of 90mm ammunition.

The results were the M41B and M41C, nicknamed "Caxias", quite superior to the old M41s in various aspects.

In the XXI century, the vehicles were kept in service, but demonstrated severe signs of obsolescence in the tecnological and armament department, with the 90mm cannon being inferior to the 105mm, 120 and 125mm, with some reports revealing that it was actually worse than the 76mm that it replaced.

Didn't take long for these vehicles to be put in reserve, training duties and, later, retired.

In late 2010's, the Uruguay placed a order for 25 M41C Caxias for the uruguayan army after a long discussion about lending these vehicles.

in late 2018, 25 M41Cs were sent to Uruguay, entering service shortly after.
