Getting the ID

First, you must approach a civilian and ask for ID. It is recommended that you detain them first in order to prevent CP loss.

Differences betweeen IDs and Driver's Licnses

Some citizens of Brighton carry ID cards while others carry driver's licenses. Look carefully for "Driver's License" on the top right.

Arresting Someone for Driving with an ID Card

If you see someone driving with an ID card, arrest them for "Missing Driver's License." That's under background checks and documents in the handcuffing section.

Open Warrants

After you ask for an ID, press M to bring up the police computer. Click on the magnification icon and go to the IDs you've collected. Some IDs will show open warrants. If the ID is legitimate, arrest them for having open warrants under the background check section in handcuffing.

Fake and Stolen IDs

When checking for IDs, there are two types of criminal IDs: One is completely obvious where the picture on the ID does not match the person. In the computer, no records will show up for it.
The other type of fake ID is where the ID picture matches in-person, but it does not match on the computer.

In the first case, arrest for fake ID under background checks and documents in the handcuffing section.
In the second case, arrest for stolen ID under the same section.
Sometimes, zooming in on a license plate will come up with a fake plate error on the computer. In that case, detain and arrest the driver for fake ID on the traffic stop.

Expired IDs

Look out for expired IDs when checking identification. Compare the date on the ID with the date on the top left corner. You can either warn or cite for expired ID.

What do if say, perp is driving a pickup, everything on the ID is fine but they have a Class M (motorcycle)?

pressing C opens the police computer by default and M opens up a menu and then you have to open up the police computer, in case you didn't know :) my friend told me recently

If the IDs don't match, I've been putting it as STOLEN ID, and the game hasn't faulted me for it.

A FAKE ID would be one that doesn't match in the database, just like a counterfeit bill that doesn't pass a blacklight test. A database should be the tell all. If it fails the tell all, it's a FAKE.

Stolen IDs seem kinda silly to me because the ID matches the suspect but it doesn't match in the computer. Like do we all assume they pasted a picture of themselves on the stolen ID? I think that's why it's so confusing to everyone.

Fake IDs don't show up in background checks. Stolen IDs do, but have a different photo

There is a partial glitch with ID right now. It should be fixed in the anti-drug update.

I had a person that had nothing match in the computer and I tried everything in the stolen/ fake ID driver's license and nothing was right. Lost alot of points.
