In this guide you will learn how to make your Counter-Strike better looking with adding of new sprites, weapon and player skins, etc. It is very easy and simple. I'll try to explain you everything, also there are sample comparison screenshots.

Introduction
First of all Welcome to my very first guide on Steam. As title said I am going to show you how to make your Counter-Strike a little bit more modern looking. I think the change that will made to your game aren't so drastically and you will liked. I also made a video that shows the same thing in case you don't want to read. Keep in mind that I am not the author of the models, sprites, etc. I just collect and pack them. If you have suggestion how I can make it better fell free to post it in the comment section bellow.

So without further complaining let's started!

Installing Process
As I said it is very simple and you can watch it at this point of the video.

After downloading the files just do these three easy steps:
  • 1. Extract "Counter-Strike visual update" file to your
    cstike folder (Steam\SteamApps\common\Half-Life\cstrike) and replace all files.

  • 2. Extract "vgui" file to your gfx folder
    (Steam\SteamApps\common\Half-Life\cstrike\gfx) and replace all files.

  • 3. Paste "cstike_english.txt" text document to your resource folder
    (Steam\SteamApps\common\Half-Life\cstrike\resource) and replace the file.

Restoring to classic Counter-Strike
I know that not everyone will like the changes on his CS that these files made, that's why I added this section which will help you to restore everything back to classical sprites, weapons skins, etc. It is simple and easy.
Do this:
  • Go to your Steam Library
  • Right click on "Counter-Strike"
  • Click on "Properties"
  • Select "LOCAL FILES" tab
  • Then click on the "VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CASHE..."
  • Wait until process is complete and you are done!

What file you will add to your CS is complete optional and it's up to you. Good luck!
