Personality Traits Overhaul - All Factions

Description
This is an overhaul to all of the existing faction specific personality traits that Lords and Heroes have when they are spawned for the first time.

  • Based around my other mod, the Personality Traits Overhaul - Generic Traits for balance and effects. Works great together with that mod.
  • All traits have a limit of 3 trait effects, with some forced exceptions (noted below in the faction description).
  • All altered trait effects are kept in line with the philosophy of the trait as much as possible.
  • All existing trait effects must be kept but can be adjusted, i.e. from a character buff to an army buff.
  • All of the effect values are adjusted to be as equal in strength as possible and they use pre-determined numbers.

The philosophy of this mod and my companion mod is based on the High Elves system of "Battle", "Army" and "Campaign" bias for each type of trait. However, since not all traits in the game belong to only one of these categories, I've added a fourth category that I've called "Triumvirate" - which is basically just a mix of the other categories, but still limited to 3 trait effects.
  • Battle - These traits focus primarily on effects that affects the character.
  • Army - These traits will mostly buff own armies and/or debuff enemy armies.
  • Campaign - Mostly affecting things on the campaign map.
  • Triumvirate - A mix of the above categories.

All of the data is kept in a spreadsheet so that I may stay sane during editing or referencing.

Beastmen
  • 5 traits are affected for this faction.
Battle: Khorne's Fury
Army: Unsated Bloodthirst
Campaign:
Triumvirate: Booze Cravings, Nurgle's Foul Stink, Torment Utterances

Bretonnia
  • 18 traits are affected for this faction.
  • Chivalry gain when recruiting male Lords has been reduced from 10 to 5.
  • The Chivalry gain effect does not count as a slot in the 3 trait effect limit.
Battle: Virtue of Heroism, Virtue of Penitent, Virtue of Audacity, Virtue of Noble Disdain
Army: Virtue of Joust, Honorable, Virtue of Confidence, Virtue of Duty
Campaign: Melancholic, Phlegmatic, Magnanimous, Intelligent
Triumvirate: Sanguine, Virtue of Knightly Temper, Virtue of Ideal, Virtue of Impetous Knight, Virtue of Stoicism, Uncompromising

Chaos and Norsca (same traits)
  • 2 traits are affected for these factions.

Army:
Campaign:
Triumvirate: Diabolic Splendour, Infernal Dominance

Dark Elves
  • 5 traits are affected for this faction.

Greenskins
  • 5 traits are affected for this faction.
Battle: Serial Danca
Army: Bragga
Campaign: Big Bully, Mushroom Addicted
Triumvirate: Tortura

High Elves
  • Only faction that does not use any traits from the generic traits pool that is shared by all other factions.
  • The trait "Incendiary" is very curious since it comes with 5 trait effects and its whole purpose is to make a caster into a melee character. This is now toned down considerably in accordance with existing effect values. This trait is now a mix of self-buffs and army-wide buffs.
  • Since the High Elves have 3 tiers for each trait chain, and a few traits have 4 trait effects (or even 5, see above), there are now a few rules in place which is as follows: The lowest tier in a trait chain will now receive 2 trait effects but as debuffs, i.e. the numerical values are halved and made negative. The middle tier will receive the same 2 effects but now as buffs instead, still only with half the numerical values. The highest tier receives 4 trait effects with full numerical values.
  • Too many traits to count are affected for this faction - which is why there will be no list here (see the Google Sheet link at top for all info).

Lizardmen
  • 4 traits are affected for this faction.
Battle: Arrogant
Army: Pompous
Campaign: Uncompromising
Triumvirate: Humble

Skaven

Vampire Coast
  • 6 unique traits are affected for this faction.
  • The Vampire Fleet Admiral loyalty effects do not count as a slot in the 3 trait effect limit.
  • 5 other traits shared with Vampire Counts are affected for this faction.
Battle: Master of the Black Arts
Army: Dark Majesty
Campaign: Lore Keeper, Devious, Firestarter, Plunderer, Smuggler
Triumvirate: Dread Incarnate, Instigator, Murderer, Intrigant

As for compatibility I recommend using Kadrin's Mod Manager instead of the CA launcher to see if there are any conflicts. I don't use big overhauls so unfortunately I can't tell you if this is compatible with X or Y.

Please report any missing, non-functioning trait effects, other problems or balance concerns! :)

Tbh you should rebase the entire mod (well, both) around base 10 instead of base 8 since that's where CA is moving (see Frenzy changes etc etc).
So like 5/10/15/20/whatever increments for goodies.

@FullAutoAttack: They will overwrite each other. It will be a mess.

So a minor update now, the power of the Ambush Attack has been reduced from 16% to 12%. This would apply to some 5-6 traits.

Second change is that the Magic Attack for Virtue of Heroism has been changed to Guardian. This is because Bretonnian Lords/Paladins get Magic Attacks when they get the Grail Vow.

@alexej: It will work but if any of those mods have any modification or addition to the traits then you will get the effects from all mods. So I recommend using this mod with vanilla WH2.

@Heartbreak: I am currently considering the Ambush Attack %, do you think 12% would be more reasonable than 16%? The next lower than that, 8%, would not be worthy of a trait effect
in my opinion. Remember that the Ambush Defence is also the same value, at 16% to balance it.

"Tone down the traits in general" doesn't really say much though. Anything in particular you were thinking of other than Ambush Attack?

Nerf the ambush success chance bonuses, they're kinda busted ngl.
And in general tone the traits down a bit both here and the generic trait mod.

This will not work with SFO or Leaders of Legend (Lord/Faction Trait Overhaul) right?
YpsiNine  [author] 25 Aug, 2021 @ 11:47am
@jacek:
On the left side you have the effects with their number values. On the right side you have the traits (in orange) and the followers (in green). Just ignore the green boxes if you don't use the followers mod. I can't really justify spending hours upon hours formatting it differently from the master spreadsheet everytime I make a change, sorry. :(
Baligdur 22 Aug, 2021 @ 1:31pm
The spreadsheet is chaotic and unreadable. Could you just list traits and their effects ?
YpsiNine  [author] 22 Aug, 2021 @ 7:05am
Some adjustments to this mod now with the release of my new Followers Overhaul mod. You can all view the data in the new spreadsheet (linked in the description).
