The number of particles around the pieces is 25k according to the original author's settings.
If you feel that the number is too much and too stuck, you can adjust down the "Amount of particle" in the settings, and at the same time, you can choose to adjust up the "Particle size" slightly in order to prevent the particles from getting too sparse due to the downward adjustment of the number of particles.
