f the purpose is solely to "get to space quicker," You can always just, you know, start in space.
Also, with only a single hydro tank in your inventory, you can fly to space with your jetpack.
Your drill design is horribly inefficient, leaving no room at all for easy customization and limiting your dig to just the area provided by one drill centered with your feed line. With a rotor and an additional conveyor block, you can easily drill a hole 4X the size, providing much more resource per upgrade, just by offsetting your drill by one block.
Add connectors and batteries, and you can add pistons at will with very little effort and time, allowing you to nearly continuously produce resources with almost no effort.
Raising your drill further off the ground gives you more room for starting pistons, allowing your initial dig to reach even farther.
Adding drills obviously increases the radius of your drill hole.
