Few things before i continue
1. While im here to show off what each of the characters can do, my opinions will be featured.
2. Obviously not every play through will be the same, and with how some of the characters are very flexible, your opinions could be different
3. While im focusing on the characters gameplaywise, i will comment a thing of two about their personality and role in the story
3. This is my first guide :)
1. Linky, the Radiant Arc

Offense: 3/5
Defene: 3/5
Utility: 2/5
Support: 2/5
Versatility: 5/5

Linky, the Main Character, the Radiant Arc. For the most part, he serves as the game's Red Mage Archetype (even has the red hat to boot), having access to alot of skills and spells, good elemental coverage, pretty good defense and offense, as well as some decent support and utility with buffs, debuffs and even some healing. for the most part, he is a general all rounder character and a jack of all trades. Though because of this, he's not particularly a master of everything, doesnt have all of the elemental coverage (limited access to Light damage despite being a holy character, hmm), not the best magic and healing, and has a bigger focus on melee damage. Though its understandable why, since hes the main character and as such, is in your party at ALL times (aside from a few story battles).

Overall, Linky is a good Hero/ Red Mage and generally a likeable character.
2. Lexie, the Ranger

Offense: 4/5
Defense: 1/5
Utility: 3/5
Support: 4/5
Versatility: 3/5

Lexie, the childhood friend and very obvious love interest for Linky. She serves as the Archer/Ranger archetype, capable of dealing alot of Physical DPS with many of her skills focusing on damaging one or multiple enemies. During the early game, she's a great damage dealer with Arrow Rain/Barrage, and her Triple Shot being very good against AOE and Bosses respectively, and she also has her cooking skills which can give some pretty damn good healing, buffs and utility. She's also very very fast. Later on, she has the potential to clear mobs and take multiple turns before the slower characters like Terrence even take their first turn.Because shes a ranger however, she's pretty fragile, and she has a semi unique downside of needing ammo for her weapon (Arrows specifically). While it isnt a big problem most of the time as you can max arrows very easily, it can get in the way if you spam Arrow Barrage in a large dungeon, as without arrows, if played poorly, she could lost massive amounts of damage

Overall, Lexis is a solid addition to the lineup, and makes for a good ADC
3. Terrence, the Paladin

Offense: 2/5
Defense: 5/5
Utility: 3/5
Support: 2/5
Versatility: 3/5

Aah Terrence, easily one of my favorite Party Members. He's the designated TANK of the group, Able to soak up massive amounts of Damage and shrug it off. Like, 90% of his skills revolve around bolstering his defenses, bolstering others, and doing Crowd Control on the enemies. His cover ability is the best, able to draw aggro from every enemy. While it may not be that useful on bosses who easily have dozens of AOE spells, he still excells in raising the defense of their party. Because of this, he doesnt have good damage (it can still be respectable especially later on) but honestly, he doesnt need to do damage.

Overall, Terrence is one of my favorites. I love tanks :)
4. Aria, The Black Mage

Offense: 5/5
Defense: 1/5
Utility: 1/5
Support: 2/5
Versatility: 3/5

Aria is basically the main Magic DPS of your team. The Black Mage has access to all of the elements (Fire,Water,Wind,Earth,Thunder,Ice,Light and Dark) and have a single target, AOE, and Mega spell for each element. This coverage is very good at any stage of the game as aside from the obvious damage, it also increases her resistance against the elements as well. Not that it really matters because here defense is abysmal (which is kinda the point). She can get shotgunned by alot of bosses (especially late game when they have dozens of AOEs) and as such, needs to be protected at all costs. She also needs a lot of MP boosters as she can eat through MP a lot, especially with the stronger spells.

Overall shes a good addition to the team!
5. Ryder, the Dragoon

Offense: 4.5/5
Defense: 2/5
Utility: 3/5
Support: 2/5
Versatility: 3/5

Ryder's not being subtle in their class. He's a Physical Damage dealer that has quite a focus on multi hit attacks, as well as manipulating the enemy formation, being able to pull the back row to the front, and vice versa. Early game he starts off pretty weak because he doesn't have access to all of his skills, but later on he becomes a massive powerhouse, being able to decimate single targets (and even bosses) as well his ability to deal increased damage to dragons (later on everything aparently). His main downside is for being a frontliner that focuses on damage, hes pretty fragile so he usually tends to be in the back row (because his jumps put him there too)

6. Richard, the Spoony Bard

Offense: 1/5
Defense: 2/5
Utility: 4/5
Support: 4/5
Versatility: 4/5

Ah yes, the Spooniest of Bards. He's one of the first support focused party member you get. He's basically what'd you'd expect from a bard. He is musical, horny, but pretty damn good at support. He has alot of songs to buff up all of your party member's stats, while also having songs that debuff and inflict status ailments to the enemy. He also has songs to heal, regain MP and revive people too. While he does have attacking songs, they're pretty weak. He later on, he obtains some beefy songs that increase multiple songs, and then the Theme of Love which boosts all stats which is very big.

Overall, the Bard is a great support and a great party member to have
7. Carrie, the White Mage

Offense: 1/5
Defense: 4/5
Utility: 3/5
Support: 5/5
Versatility: 4/5

The Pure Healer is here. you get her pretty early and she becomes a mainstay in your team for the rest of the game. She has an amazing amount of heals, revives, and cures, a significant amount of buffs, and even some utility with debuffs like silence and even giving MP to other party members. Strangely enough, shes also the designated Magic Tank, as she has access to alot of Magic Defense, all of her healing spells give Magic Defense, and she has access to Magic Cover, which draws Magical Aggro, which could work for mage based enemies, not that great against bosses because they have AOE spells, but its still pretty good. She also has very good special abilities that heal, and even reduce alot of damage. Shes a very good healer, and practically a godsend in harder battles.
8. Lumi, the Swordsmaster

Offense: 3/5
Defense: 2/5
Utility: 2/5
Support: 3/5
Versatility: 3/5

I'll admit, i feel like Lumi is one of the weaker members of the party. She has good physical damage, but is more fragile than even Ryder, so she doesnt work as a front liner. She could be a Counter Attacker but Counter isnt that useful in general in this, and she is really weak against enemies resistant to ice as she primarily deals ice damage. Shes very fast though, and can still deal alot of damage, but shes more situational than others.
9. Tamotsu, the Ninja

Offense: 4/5
Defense: 3/5
Utility: 3/5
Support: 1/5
Versatility: 4/5

Tamotsu is a Chad, simple as that. Jokes aside, hes a solid addition and the closest thing you'll have to a Thief/Assassin archetype. He has very high agility, high physical damage and high avoidability, making him a very good dodge tank. He also mainly uses Dark Damage which is effective on alot of enemies except demons and evildoers and undead. He suprisingly also has a skill that draws aggro while practically giving him the resistance of a tank for a bit. He's a very fun member to use.
10. Nuria, the Gunner

Offense: 4/5
Defense: 1/5
Utility: 4/5
Support: 4/5
Versatility: 3/5

Nuria is a rather unique member. She provides very high damage output with her guns and grenades (go figure, using modern firearms in a medieval setting), her grenades in particular have some debuffs. She has good utility and support with her specials. One of her biggest damage combos is using the Combat visor, as she can use that and with the Shooting Star or a Shotgun, can easily generate SP. Shes fragile of course, but curiously she also shares the same weakness as Lexie in that her weapons also require ammo, as without that ammo her damage lowers considerably. However its not as bad as Lexie as her grenades don't use up ammo, and since she has 3 different weapon types to use with their own specific ammo, she can switch between guns to continue dealing damage Overall, her niche as a high DPS/hybrid support is a very good addition.
11. Gabriel, the Monk

Offense: 4/5
Defense: 3/5
Utility: 3/5
Support: 1/5
Versatility: 4/5

Gabriel is the designated Monk of the group. Focusing heavily on being unarmed (well, technically using claws) and dealing bunches of damage. With his different stances, he can be very versatile as a heavy damage dealer with many of his combos and his Offensive Stance, or a pretty good Off-tank with his Defensive Stance. Overall, not much to say about him but hes still a good addition to the team.
12. Derek, the Dark Knight

Derek is an interesting character for a lot of reasons. He went from being a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to your party, to a edge lord and a sad man. At first he has quite a lot of competition since you already have a lot of tanks, damage dealers and support, but he has a handful of things that make him rather unique. For starters, he uses his own health as his resource and he's your second character that deals primarily Dark Damage. He's a damage dealer that has a lot of sustain, being able to use a lot of Health regen and Lifesteal to offset the amount of health he uses for his attacks. This makes him rather risky to use but very rewarding as he can deal insane amounts of dark damage. While admittedly hes not that great against the final dungeon as a lot of the enemies are dark type, hes very good in optional dungeons. Overall, hes a unique addition to the team

I would have bumped Lumi to 4 in offense. Even if the enemy isn't weak to her Ice Queen buff, she still has some other buffs that can be stacked and her Attack and Speed are high enough that she has good DPS even in the back row.
