Jump into a multiplayer game!
The best area to improve your general skill will always be 4v4 Team Deathmatch, as it is a simple mode with the best maps in the game that most people play.

It is also important to note that if you play Halo 4 you will be shunned, so eliminate that from your play options or uninstall it!

Don't worry, if you're playing Halo 1, the battle rifle was actually skinned to look like a pistol, but behaves like the DMR from reach.
