How to survive the new hunts
By Saph
Ghost hunting has been recently changed in this new update.

In this guide, I will explain ideal tips to surviving the new hunts as well as what obstacles you may face.

If the wording of this guide seems familiar, that's because someone stole my guide without even giving me permission to credit all my information in their guide. Talk about scummy!

Ghosts can hear electronics???
Yes, you read that right. They can hear your equipment.

Now I know for a fact that includes your emf readers, the DOTS projector, the spirit box and anything else that may make noise.. perhaps even your flashlight, so you should turn them off during a hunt now to reduce chances of death.

But the fact they can hear electronics means you can use this to your advantage. Your flashlight does not flicker during a hunt anymore, but emfs will still go crazy, and thus the noise will attract the ghost. Set up an emf in it's room, and your second emf somewhere upstairs AWAY from hiding spots. The emf will only trigger if the ghost is also on your floor, so it's also a good indicator to tell if the ghost is upstairs with you or downstairs below you.
What is that geiger counter sound I am hearing?
That is the new ghost clicking sound, or perhaps even your DOTS projector freaking out during a hunt. I am not sure myself.

But if it's the ghost, then that means you can hear it throughout the whole house. Also handy for determining where the ghost is, as it seems to increase in volume from my own experimentation with a very uncooperative Shade.

Likewise, you should still be quiet during a hunt. I've heard that ghosts are much faster during hunts now, even if it isn't a Revenant, so if you hear that clicking sound or any equipment freaking out... RUN.
Surviving these new hunts
THE GOLDEN RULE OF HUNTS IS TO REMAIN QUIET. It reduces your chance of dying heavily, as well as now turning off your flashlight as the ghost can hear that somehow.

Use sound as a distraction to the ghost using the emf setup I discussed. And if your feeling a lack of confidence even with these precautions in mind, it would not hurt to have a smudge stick with a lighter in your hand. You shouldn't do this on 3-4 player games though because 1 or 2 of your friends may be at much more risk if they don't have a smudge stick, so I'd use this on a solo or 2 player game.

There is an exception to you making noise, and that's Banshees. If you figure out your target, go as loud as you want. The Banshee will ignore you if you are not the target, but make sure your target stays inside if that's the case. Still be careful.

That's all. It's a really short guide, but these are my tips. Stay safe, hunters!
Any new information I noticed (to be updated at random intervals)
As of 8/31/2021, I have discovered that you can safely sprint away from the ghost as you are faster then it, but you should turn your light on/off while running away as to show where you need to go, and to reduce the chance of being seen. Helpful for escape the ghost during hunt objectives, but highly risky.

I read on some forums that equipment not being held no longer distracts the ghost, but they should still help you figure out where the ghost is.

Thanks for the guide, the new patch has turned my fight or flight mechanism solely to flight, so every little bit of information helps :p

one tip that isn't here but has seemed to help a tiny bit- always be crouching. seems to make them less likely to spot you and more likely to 'forget' you, even if you're not hiding behind something.

even with all these tips tho, the only way i seem to survive anymore is by just not allowing the ghost to hunt at all, or being very far away and hidden well before it even starts.

I've tried all of this, but it just seems to know where I am at all times. I'll hide, hold the door shut like the game developers implemented, but nothing. it's a bit irritating and boring. I used to love this game, but now I get so tilted and bored because it just feels like I can't do anything once a hunt starts.

I just literally throw down my electronics now lol. And the video camera is a super helpful early detection tool.

P.S. Make sure that while going to hide, you break line of sight at least twice (once with a corner or something, and the other with the door to your hide spot). If it sees you, you're dead. Don't know if it could see your flashlight in this, but take the safe route.

Also another tip: Open and keep open any doors leading to the outside. I don't have a ton of hours, but it helps me know when a hunt triggers since the flashlights don't blink everywhere in the map. You can also test your radio for a second to see if it statics if you think a hunt had been initiated.

Hasn't happened yet to me. Press the killswitch on your microphone if your playing solo to reduce chances further, @WrenchInTheGears
