Intro
Welcome to my guide on quick-and-dirty job level farming!

Why would you need to farm your job levels? Job level has a direct impact on your characters' damage dealt. It is worth grinding at least a bit when you switch a character to a new job in order to maximize their damage output.

This can also be handy for getting the job level related achievements early, but those will all eventually pop during a normal playthrough, anyway.
Where and how: the process
Job experience comes from all actions taken in combat and each level requires 5 actions. You can only gain one job level per character per battle.

This can be done anytime after completing the opening dungeon. I recommend this location because Goblin battles go quickly and you won't need to stop to heal or cure status ailments during the process.

Wander the grasslands around the starting town of Ur

When you get into a battle, attack with your first party member and have the rest defend until there is only one Goblin left, then switch your attacker to defend

Since we need 5 rounds of battle and Goblins are a one-hit kill you need to defend enough rounds so the last kill is round 5. For example: if there are 4 Goblins then kill 3, defend 1 round, then kill the last one. If there are 2 Goblins then kill 1, defend 3 rounds, then kill the last one.

If you do it right, you should gain 1 job level for everybody for every battle

If you get a good rhythm down of engaging/disengaging the auto-battle then you can get from 1 to 99 on all four characters in less than 30 minutes (faster if you hack the auto-battle speed)
Conclusion
This is the fastest method I've come across for grinding jobs. I hope you found it useful and thanks for reading!

Those stats no longer apply to this version, they changed how the job leveling works. It's now the same amount of Job Experience per action per class.

Hello !
Nice to see a guide similar to the one I wrote for the 3D Remake years ago.

Before job lvl 14, every job gain 20 xp per action and you need 99xp per job level.
You can gain only one job lvl per battle.

Here the number of xp per action and number of actions needed to get the job to level up :

Freelancer: 20 => 4.95 actions
Warrior: 14 => 7.07 actions
Monk: 14 => 7.07 actions
White Mage: 10 => 9.9 actions
Black Mage: 10 => 9.9 actions
Red Mage: 12 => 8.25 actions
Thief: 18 => 5.5 actions
Ranger: 14 => 7.07 actions
Knight: 12 => 8.25 actions
Geomancer: 14 => 7.07 actions
Scholar: 24 => 4.13 actions *same value for level 1 to 14
Dragoon: 16 => 6.19 actions
Viking: 14 => 7.07 actions
Dark Knight: 14 => 7.07 actions
Evoker: 10 => 9.9 actions
Bard: 18 => 5.5 actions
Black Belt: 14 => 7.07 actions
Devout: 10 => 9.9 actions
Magus: 10 => 9.9 actions
Summoner: 12 => 8.25 actions
Sage: 10 => 9.9 actions
Ninja: 12 => 8.25 actions
Onion Knight: 8 => 12.38 actions

that is insane how strong the characters get when having job level maxed. I did get level 99 onion knight before first boss fight. maxed out at the well. The level of the characters was 5-7 but the boss was one hit with antarctic wind item
And after Ur my level 8 warrior with maxed out job did crits with 1793 damage, despite the characters itself did only have around 120 hp. one misklick and my white mage striked down my warrior with one hit melee attack

While ensuring that each battle lasts five turns does guarantee a level up with every battle, from the point of view of ease of grinding I think just allowing the first character to always attack is better. You won't get a level up with every battle, but you have to pay even less attention. Turn on always auto battle and then while watching a video or something just keep pressing up and down a few seconds at a time.

Shinrok, all jobs earn the same amount of experience for the same activity, if I understand your question correctly. The amount of experience per job level varies by job, but the amount of experience earned in battle is consistent across jobs.

i obly have one question: is the job leveling like in the 3d version with differen amountst job exp for each job or do all jobs get the same amount of job exp?

It's even faster to get encounters if you go into Ur and go north to the woods where you can run back and forth to get goblin encounters. It's better than the world map because you can run and there's a longer straight portion to run back and forth on than there is on the overworld.
