Hello Folks,

for today I have some really common East German street lights for you. A 5 meter tall street lantern with two yellow-shining light bulbs in it, and its renewed version with a different head and now white shining light bulbs.
These street lights are essential if you really want to capture the feeling of a (former) East German city, or maybe even soviet city.
They obviously fit really well with my "Plattenbau" assets, but should also fit any other type of city.

I will probably recreate other East German street lights as well, if I find the time for it.


Background info:

This street light design was created at the start of the 1960s and was still built even after the reunification of Germany, all the way into the 1990s.
The design originated in Pössneck, a small town in the middle of Thuringia.
This type of street light was erected pretty much everywhere in East Germany, and quickly became one of the many things of daily life, one would associate with the GDR.


In-game:

The street lights can be found under their names, starting with "DDR street light RSL1-5m" or alternatively by searching for "East German".
Some metal surfaces, like the small metal pole and the roof dish are color-mapped to create a bit of variety between the street lights.
If you want to replace your road's street lights with these ones, I suggest using the "Network Skins mod".
You can also just place them manually, like any normal prop.

Both street lights share the same exact same textures, so using the Loading Screen Mod to cut down on file size is advised.
