Defense Skill Tree
Accessed through the Village, the defense skill tree allows for survival during sustained fights. Keep in mind that investing exp into skills that raise damage or defense lower the quality of the rewards you get from normal and easy stages, so the goal is to spend as little exp possible. The same applies to weapons and armor. The nodes each skill tree have been listed to below to ensure for more strategic planning for every character.

Maps
As of update 3.41 there are only 2 maps, the Royal Forest and Celestial Ridge.



Stars There are currently 3 stars per map, each giving rewarding a diamond upon completion. The second and third star are available upon clearing a stage for the first time, allowing all other characters to enter it directly. With that said, clearing with 2 stars displays what monsters populate a location before entering it. Clearing with 3 stars displays what items drop in addition to yielding the most exp and loot.

Training Zone
As of update 3.41 this area doesn't display damage dealt to the target. I'm assuming this is going to be an area to test dps and new builds. Be careful not to use any items including bombs because they will be not be given back.

Early-Game
For my early game starts, I picked up the bone dagger for its faster attack speed and higher crit chance. Focusing on damage may sound like the best strategy but you'll find over time that defense is much more important for clearing stage. Those sustained battles are a drain on stamina and health so prioritizing sustain is key to clearing the first map quickly. Once you clear stage 3, I recommend switching to the thief character because they a nice set of unique skills we will be needing to push difficult stages.
