South West Trains Class 450

Description
Introduction
I am planning on building a route between Farnham and Alton in the UK, an area operated by South Western Railways (formerly 'South West Trains'). A key part of this route is the Siemens Desiro Class 450, in its blue, red, orange and yellow livery.

The Model
I wanted a Class 450 for my route, but was unfortunately unable to find one. Thus, I set about making a template for the Sprinter train already in Rolling Line, using Photoshop and references from images online. It was tricky to fit the livery of the Class 450 on the shape of the Sprinter but I think that I have done a fairly good job.

It factors exquisite details, including the use of true-to-life colours as used on the real Class 450, and features such as the guard light in the middle of the carriage, the yellow and silver door buttons and fonts as used on the real Class 450.

A brief history of the Class 450
In April 2001, 785 vehicles were ordered by South West Trains in order to complete the replacement of its slam-door rolling stock, in accordance with its franchise commitment to do so by 2005, as the slam-door trains were coming to the end of their useful lives, and did not meet modern health and safety requirements.

Introduction to service was delayed by the required power supply upgrades capable of powering the new trains, which feature air conditioning, a feature not present in the slam-door trains they replaced. In the December 2004 timetable change, the Class 450 Desiro began serving most intended routes, although introduction was delayed until June 2005 in some areas.

It now operates on all South Western Railway routes other than the West of England line and the Eastleigh to Romsey Line.

I hope you enjoy this livery and use it on your own lines.

Very nice, just m a y b e a little too oversaturated. But, that could be just me, as I like my things de-saturated.
