This is a WIP guide, and future Updates and Improvements are coming
I will go in-depth with some of the Editor Basics and some Advanced things you can do with it, to make better maps for AAPG

How to Open the Editors
Open your Steam Library, go under AAPG, and just open it, then a message will pop-up, now you can choose the editor.

It will open a log-in tab, just press Play Offline

Then the launcher is open, press Editor, and select the editor you want to use

Another way is to make a shortcut, using this line "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\America's Army\AAPG\Binaries\Win32\AALauncher32.exe" /de this will just open the launcher straight away

What Editor to use
I suggest to use the Basic editor, until you've learned at least how to publish your first map, or how to move inside it.
If you are a tech savy, you can probably just open it and place some meshes, and then try learning the full editor straight away

AAPG comes with 2 editors, the Basic and the Full Editor.
The Basic Editor is a version made from the Devs, that can be usefull or the first hour or week, depends on your skills, but if you haven't used an editor or any similar programs, it will be usefull to try first this editor for a little while.
The Full Editor is a version of Unreal Development Kit (we will use the short form UDK from now) with some features disabled, but tutorials can still be found for UDK and will work the same with this one.
In-Depth Full Editor Guide
Work In Progress, this is just a list of the things i will cover
  • Make a basic level working
  • UI, Content Browser and Movement
  • Brushes
  • Lights
  • Meshes
  • Decals
  • Materials
  • Sounds
  • Kismet
  • Matinee

Make a basic level working
To make a basic level using the full editor it does not take long, just patience.
First, open the full editor of curse...
Then, go on top left, and select File>New

select Blank Map.
Then you want to set up your map name and obj.
Go to File>Save as, and save the map where you want, but usually you want to save the map at least inside C:\User\Documents\My Games\America's Army Proving Grounds\AAGame\Unpublished\Maps , but it might change if you had opened the basic editor, or if you will open it on future.
Now you have set your map name, but we still have to change more things inside the map.
Go under View>World Properties, this tab is available also on the Content Browser, just open it (if you don't find it you can use CTRL+SHIFT+F) and go under MapBrowser, we will need this tab later anyway. (Notice that the Content Browser now it's called MapBrowser)
Now we will set some basic informations.
Under the MapBrowser, you can find AAMap Info, you can choose the Camo Color people will have on your map, is it Green? Gray? Sand like? you have those 3 options on there.
Then we want to set up Fire Team Manager, just select the blu triangle, and click the tab it opens.
Now you have a new section, AAFire Team Manager.
Tick the Use Roles square, then you can set up the teams.
Team 0 is Attack(RED), Team 1 is Defense(BLUE), under each team you'll find Max Team Roles, and Fire Teams.
We will use only the first one, basically it tells the game how many players can use a determinated role, like Sniper or Marksman, if the map will be FLO set the Rifleman at 12, if it's a BDX you can put 6, then it's up to you if you want Sniper or the others.
When you've finished setting that up go down, under Mission Info.
There you can find the Briefing Audio and Text, select it as you like.
Mission Name and Description is up to you if write that down now, or later when you'll publish the map.
Mission Type, you can write cu, or if you want the game type you have choose, vip, c4, ecc...
You can skip template name,
Full Package Name is important, you have basically to copy and paste the name of the map, with the extension, for example Flo_BestMapEver.umap, if that is the file, you have to copy and paste the same name, then Short Package Name, you have to put the name without the .umap, and if you want, without the Flo_.
Mission Version must be set to 1.
Then Map Type, Size, and Objective Template you can choose the one that suits your map.
Under Team Settings you can set your custom text, that usually shows up when you press F1 on Game, and the team names (Remember, Team 0, or Red, are Attack, Team 1, or Blue, are Defense)
Now under the World Info, you can find Zone Info, you can set Kill Z to -1000, this will remove a message later.
It's time for the Game Type, this is crucial, it can determinate if your map works or not.
Usually you can set this to AAGameVeteran

If you play VIP, select AAGameVIP_Content for both still.
If you play TakeAndHold, select AAGameTakeAndHold again, for both.
Now we have to make our ground.

Who are we?
We are a group of people, met for two reasons, make better maps for AAPG and teach people how to use the editor.
It all started on 2020, ilSignore had the idea of the group, me and kaledo were in, and from there we would have learned more than we could alone.
We want to make custom modes for AAPG, and much more on the future
