About the endings [spoilers]
First, there is a bunch of things worth knowing :

About the perfect ending.

There is no such thing as "the perfect ending". That's just the name i gave to the ending where you keep the book and get your love interest back.

The others endings are worth seeing too ! If you read the paragraph below, you'll miss one of the best parts of the game : exploring your destiny ! :D

I deeply recommend that you read this walkthrough if you really want to watch the perfect ending...

About the book.

Keeping the book is quite optionnal if you don't want being the Hobo at the end of the game : it's just a bonus cutscene. But it has an influence on the wedding...

There is three outcomes possible :
- At the casino, you give your book to save Sam's life. You don't end as a famous writer, but Sam does.
- At the casino, you keep the book and you let Sam die. You end as an hobo (explained in "about the wedding")
- At the casino, you keep the book and save Sam's life if you pay his debt. You end up as a famous writer.

About the wedding.

There is outcome possible, only one being an "happy ending". I don't give any complete explanations (i don't want to spoil too much)

- You don't object the wedding. Your love interest marries Sam and you end up as the hobo.
- You object the wedding but your "love" rejects you. You live an "happy" life in the garbage.
- You gave your book to save Sam's life but that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ didn't came back : you died. Sam ends up as the hobo.
- You refused to give your book, so Sam died. You end up as the hobo.
- You object successfully the wedding. You get your love interest back and Sam ends up as the hobo.
Keeping the book
This is the "easiest" (but the most time-consuming) part of the perfect ending.

Before/during the casino.

Before saving Sam's life, you MUST have 10.000$ in your wallet.

There's several ways possible :
- Be a workaholic during the game and saving your money as much as possible.
- Be an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and screw everyone for money (i didn't try this one)
- Play in the casino and bet your fortune.

During the "debt reduction"

If you have 10.000$, another option will be available : "Pay the debt".

Pay the debt like a boss : you'll save Sam's life and keep your book.

TADAM !
Winning your love interest back
This is the trickiest part : follow exactly the walkthrough if you want to succeed.

When you meet Casey, for the first time, at San Verdano.

He/she will want to know how the break-up went.

1) When he/she asks who broke up, say that was your choice, that you broke up.
2) When he/she asks why, say that was because you felth unworthy.

When Sam asks you if you wanna come to his bachelor party.

Say that you'll go. If you don't, Sam'll be murdered because you weren't there to clean his mess.
If he dies, you get one the bad endings.

When you bump into Casey reading your "secret diary"

1) He/she will ask what at your reasons for being at the wedding : say that you're here to get him/her back.

2) He/She will read you bad deeds made during your journey, say that you feel bad for every single one of them.

3) She'll ask you i think that you are worthy, say "of course i am !"

During the bachelor party.
First, get yourself a suit. Because suits are awesome (and expensive... 5000$). (i think it's optionnal but i'm not sure)

During the debt cutscene, save Sam's life by paying the debt.
If you can't pay it, you'll get your love back but you won't become a famous writer.

If you want to win your love back, Sam MUST NOT DIE.
If he/she dies, you'll get one of the bad endings.

At the wedding

1) Object the wedding and declare your undying love

2) ??????
3) Profit !

And the cherry on top...
In the dark alley, wait that Sam comes to light and blow his/her head off.

That ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ earned it :

- He stole your essay.
- He stole your girl when you broke up.
- He stole your life.
- He makes more money than you.
- He tried to screw you and ♥♥♥♥ up your head.

Dear Larry, you're next <3

Thanks for readinf this walkthrough, i hope that's usefull.
I'm really sorry for my grammar : english isn't my native langage and i tried to be comprehensible.

Well I got a good ending for the first playtrough( What I say is a good ending for me). I tired two options. I do not think that it the ending is based on your doings through your journey, but maybe it is. Mostly I played a character with lots of ethic, but with some selfawarness. ( Like I didn't payed for the ♥♥♥♥ed up hair for the wife of Larry, or hack the vote machine because no matter who will be the major, it will be a selfish ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥) I didn't even saved Fishing kid, but I tried. Where I could help i did, but didn't sacrife too much for it, but never steal or did some harm to another.
Later I said that my ex dumped me, for me being to careless. I went to the bachelor's party, altough i think of that Sam is an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and just wanted to tell me how great he is, and he copied my homework in the university too, and get ♥♥♥♥ed up because of him...

So i went to the party, gave him my journal and told him there is no way he can repay that. Cancel the wedding? My ex heart would broke because of that. Tell Larry the truth? That would get to my ex too. So I said it, there is nothing he could do. I objected at the wedding, said a lot of beautifull things( Don't do it wont work, i am sure of that). He choose me and after that Sam became a Hobo, than later a Millionare because of my work. I lost my Journal, and didn't get rich, or I couldn't achive my dreamwork, but I did achieve the love of my life so i think that is more important.

Why in God's name would you want Sam to get shot? The right thing to do is leave the jerkbag living like a hobo, even after getting rich off your journal. The real punishment is being alone.

you can cheat money in the woodcutter village, buy wood at forrest sell it at the pawn shop - instant profit that will get very hight after some time because you can carry endless wood (dont know if that was patched i did it a long time ago)

I did everything right except for who broke up/why broke up questions, which honestly made me salty. I'm past fixing that mistake so i'll have to replay the game in the far future, but really, having most of the ending hang on questions that, honestly, came out of nowhere and explained the breakup just at the near end of the game, and having you decide on it? How the hell were you supposed to know what was the right choice here and what was wrong, to tell the truth i thought that it would make no differrence, that choices you made during the entire game would make the differrence, but i was wrong.

@Gallade try some of the other guides here that offer step-by-step from Day 1. I'm pretty sure a lot of choices you make throughout the game matter as well, because some are very ethically bad and will probably affect the ending even if you show remorse with Casey.
@Nizate I'm not sure of the definition of farming here but you definitely need to spend some time at either the boxing club or the casino and save and reload a couple of times and know in advance that you need the money (or reload outside the casino once you figure it out). So, it's still a bit strange because you're kind of buying your good ending (and it's still quite harsh for Sam IMO).
Nizate 21 Dec, 2014 @ 8:42pm
@Zax you don't need to farm money to win the game, I had 0$ left at the end.
IX 17 Dec, 2014 @ 2:47pm
Yep, sounds like what I'd do if someone stole my beloved.
LVDoomien 15 Dec, 2014 @ 7:33pm
I'm really glad me and my friend followed your guide exactly and got a bad ending.
Zax 15 Dec, 2014 @ 8:33am
Oh hell, this is so contrived. So in the end you have to farm money to "win" the game. I kinda hate it's the story they wanted to tell and there is no option to just work and hook up with someone else like a normal person...
