气体发电机是后期的终极发电机。气体发电机启动会产生极大量热量,需要一套强力循环冷却系统。

气体发电机是后期的电力最终解决方案。最大功率下每秒钟消耗2.4摩尔燃气,在101.35kpa的进气压力下产生高达84kw的电能,同时也释放出大量热量,但是其要求在不高于55度(328K)的温度下运行。
在寒冷的中等密度大气星球(火星等),气体发电机能够在户外直接运行,否则需要巨大的散热阵列和庞大的储热换热装置。有些人会将其放置于涡轮风洞中联动运行。
