How to fix legacy vive HMD screen glitch on an old, outdated AMD GPU
By SPAMRAAM
This guide is about how to fix legacy vive HMD screen glitch on an old, outdated AMD GPU.

I'm using R9 270X and I'd got this cancer twice so I'm writing down here.
You should try clean install latest graphic driver or rolling back worked driver first, then try everything you can find on internet
The way introduced in this guide should be the last resort.

Idea is a quite simple, Clean up all VR related drivers and let windows update install AMD graphics driver instead of do manually.

I will NOT be held responsible for anything that happens.

Uninstall VR-related driver and delete vr settings
Open SteamVR, go Developer setting -> Remove All SteamVR USB Devices, click on it.
You can do the same thing using an app called usbdeview.
then exit SteamVR and Steam.

Before reboot your system, you have to do two more stuff.

1,Unplug all 3 in-one cable from Linkbox and PC.

2,press Win+R then type %appdata%
delete steamVR folder inside %appdata%/local

NOTE: YOU WILL LOSE ALL STEAM VR SETTINGS

Now you can reboot your computer with Safe mode and continue troubleshooting.
Uninstall AMD graphics using AMD cleanup utility and DDU while safemode
Reboot your computer with safe mode for clean up drivers

AMD Cleanup Utility should be found in your install directory, default path is C:/program files/amd
DDU link : https://www.wagnardsoft.com/

Basically DDU should take care all of uninstall process but in my case Radeon software wasn't uninstalled so I recommend to use AMD cleanup Utility or Uninstall manually from built-in menu before run DDU.

After that, DDU will reboot your computer normally. if not, do it manually.
Make everything back
First thing first, open graphics section of dxdiag and check windows update installed graphic driver automatically, if not, wait or play around with windows update section.

Start SteamVR BEFORE plug linkbox to PC
If everything was done well, you should see a sort of message like a "Welcome, plug headset to your PC" on SteamVR.
Now connect linkbox to PC then linkbox to Vive, congrats.

You can't access AMD Radeon Software but this is the only way to fix this problem, at least for me.
