Basic Survival Tips
Some basic tips on how to survive in the harsh world of Rust.

1. BEARS. Do NOT melee attack bears. If a bear wounds you, you will begin to bleed. Bleeding is bad. Only use ranged weapons! If you run out of ammo, you need to RUN.

2. PLACE OF HOME. When choosing a place to put your home find a spot that isn't too obvious. Obvious homes lead to common raiding and trolling. Players are NOT friendly in this game! Good and Bad spots: Example 1: Next to the road, this is a BAD spot. Example 2: In the mountains bewteen two large rocks covering your home from all view, this is a GOOD spot. NEVER build next to pre-made buildings such as a "Rad-Town". Rad-Towns will first of all radiate you and eventually kill you, second of all they are places many people go to and will put your house in a very bad spot.

3. FIREARMS. If you accuire a firearm and ammo you should refrain from firing the gun unless needed. The sound of a firearm discharging will attrack unwanted players who wish to "accuire" the firearm in an unfriendly way.

4. BUTTRAPES. To avoid being butt-raped do not attack radiated animals or wolves. Rad-Animals aren't good for you and wolves cause bleeding much like bears (not ad deadly). I have never attempted to kill and then eat a Rad-Animal but I'd imagin they would cause you higher Rad points and or poisoning.

5. FOOD. When you hunt you will recieve raw chicken, NEVER eat it while it is raw. Raw meat will poison you and poisoning is very bad. Always cook if. When using a fire hold "E" or the key you've bound your use key to and that will open up the fire's menu, place the chicken in one of the top slots and place wood as a fuel (wood should already be there). Wait a while and enjoy your cooked chicken. Even when desprite never eat raw chicken!
How to be a good Survivor
By survivor I mean an average player. The first way to becoming a good survivor is follow Basic Tip 3 Place a Home. I cannot stress how important that step is. The whole chance of your survival is following that step!

1. STARTING THE DAY. When the sun is up you should first collect materials, such as wood, food & stone. When the sun is 3/4th the way down. Basically evening. Now you need to find a good spot to put a home. When you have found that spot, lay down a foundation. Then you need to make four supports and one roof. Place the supports and then put the roof on. If you gathered enough wood make three walls and one door.

SideNote: If you wish to make a larger home then you should make more foundations, supports and roofs. I suggest making your home no larger then a square ( 4 ) fountadions, four supports, two "layers"\floors ( normal layer then one on top ), nine roofs, and one staircase. Windows are a good way of protecting your home but they allow people to throw nades into your home, if you decide to create windows do NOT put them in a place that you'll be defending, I will explan defending in step 6. Just in case of players raiding your home make a way of getting away!

2. TOOLS. When you have finished your home you'll want to make a pickaxe to mine. Please note, if you do not see any minable areas near you do not create a pickaxe. I suggest making a crafting table as it will making you craft quicker when standing near it. If there are a lot of animals and players near you try crafting a bow and plenty of arrows, note you can never have to much arrows/ammo, unless it takes up too much backpack space.

4. HUNTING. Please note! Do NOT attack aggressive animals upclose! They will most likely kill you. Find some deer or boar, if you see both you should attack the boar first as they are in my opion the easiest of the two to kill. When attacking a boar sprint right next to it and constantly hold or spam the attack key and follow it where ever it goes. When attacking a deer sprint up to it and try to attack it, it will run faster than you! Chase the deer as you would the boar until you've killed it. If you have a good amount of arrows then you should shoot the deers but not the boars. Deer take a lot longer to kill than boars do but shooting them makes it very easier. Do not shoot the boar, they are easy to kill and it would be a waste of arrows to kill boar. If a player is near you when you're hunting and they know where you are stop and get away from them, do NOT protect your hunted animals unless you are prepared and you are able to defeat the player.

5. RESOURCES. Now you will want to create a fire and a furnace inside your home. You MUST place the fire and furnace INSIDE your home! Putting any light source outside your home will alert raiders. Cook any food you've collected and smelt any ores mined.

6. PROTECTING YOUR HOME. As you play Rust you WILL taste the bitter taste of dying and losing your stuff! Most commonly it is do the other players. Always lock your doors! I suggest making metal doors and locking them. If you created windows have a ranged weapon such as a bow or gun in a wooden crate right by the window, this will let you protect your home without having to carry everything with you where ever you go. When protecting NEVER stand infront of the window for a long amount of time! This will allow people to shoot you and that wouldn't be what you want when protecting your home. If Raiders do enter your home and you made an escape I suggest using it, you will atleast be able to run and get a head start. If you didn't make an escape then you should use your hachet or another weapon with high damage, weapons that cause enemies to bleed are very good, even if you die the enemy will bleed out if not treated and in a way you'll have a type of victory! If you have obtained a firearm use it! Even try to fire warning shots, if the Raiders do not have guns they might leave you in fear of dying, if you see them running SHOOT them! Do NOT allow Raiders to get away if they retreat. They may get guns them selves and come back. If the Raiders do not flee and they continue breaking into your home or even return fire then stand in a safe area or your home and wait for them to break in! Once they have broken in SHOOT! Do not stop firing at them unless you cannot see them! If you die I recommend waiting near your home for a couple of minutes then trying to go back home. If the Raiders have "claimed" your home then abandon it and start a new one. If you are victorious at defending your home you are a brave warrior! Loot the Raiders and lock up just incase they return or if more Raiders come by.

7. NEIGHBORS. If you do have "neighbors" and they come by to say hello I suggest giving them a present of led or arrow. Neighbors are not good to have in Rust. I have done experiments and 80% of "neighbors" will come by and attempt to kill me. So, you literally need to trust no one, unless they're a Steam friend or somebody you know.

If you have perfected all these steps then congratulations! You are now a good Survivor.
How to be a successful Bandit
Being a Bandit/Raider isn't as simple as it seems! You should continue reading and see how to perfect the art of Raiding.

1. YOUR FIRST VICTIM. When Raiding a place you do NOT want to walk up to somebody and start shooting at them and come of as aggressive! When approaching somebody make then feel as if they can trust you, if they have no good weapons that they can use against you invite them to come to their base and make them think you are helping them. When at a good spot deliver the finishing blow WITHOUT telling them! If you tell them they might run or attack you. Simple get behind them and suddenly shoot them. Loot and get away as fast as possible!

2. A LONG RANGER. Note: Players who are in groups follow steps 3 and 4 and skip this one! Avoid making bases. Make small bases with a fire and maybe a sleeping bag. Stay mobile, never stay at one base, I have seen that if people SEE your base and witness your being a Bandit they form militias to come against you! Normally they are easilly defeated but sometimes they accuire guns! When moving stay, along the mountain side, where the plains and they mountains meet, there it is easy to see anybody in the plains and the mountains desquise you from sight, giving you the upper hand if you see a home or enter battle.

3. STRIKING FEAR. Note: If you are playing by yourself I do not recommend following this step! Forming a large base near the road was not advised in earlier steps but If you have a group of Bandits it is a way to put fear into the hearts of other players. The best base you can make is a barrirer near going over the road, with a large gate preventing players from getting across. This of course is going to use up a lot of wood so it'll take a while.

4. TOGETHER FOREVER. When you are playing as a group you should not act like you would if you were playing DayZ or other games like that. In Rust you and you group will want to partly split up and head for a door. Do NOT stay in one cluster of men or split up and surround the house! If the player you are raiding resisests don't abandon the raid unless they kill a teammate or they have an advantage over you and it is obvious that you are not going to win. If the player escaped don't allow them! Kill the player and loot them, after you kill them loot the house. I do not recommend staying in somebodys house for two reasons: They spent the time to make the house and it's an ***hole move to take it over, most players return and sometimes with friends, many times I have tried to keep players homes and I have died many times in that attempt. After all loot has been "accuired" return to your home and split up the loot EVENLY amoung your group. When roaming around the wilderness your group should travel along the road with your best weapon revieled. This will frighten ALL players who see you, fear is what will lead you to greatness, if your enemies fear you they will NOT fight aggainst you! When Raiding a home it is wise it kill everybody in the house. Allowing people to live is a very bad mistake!

5. A HARD DAYS WORK. At the end of the day you have now defeated an enemy and have accuired a kings bounty. Enjoy your victory and create and "palace"! (If you are by yourself do not construct a "palace") I recommend constructing a massively large tower near your road barrier. This will first of all look amazing and it will be a good way to prevent yourself from being Raided yourself! Raiders are actually commonly raided and sometimes loose, making an extreamly large home will allow you to protect yourself better against raiders.

If you have completed all these steps you are most likely the "king(s)" or the server you are on! Congratulations!
Congratulations!
Congratulations! If you have completed all these steps then you are now either a good survivor or a succesful Badit! But, now that I have told people my techineque to victory I'll have to think of a different way for myself :\ I hope you guys enjoy beating everybody who stands against you!

If this guide was helpful please give it a like a share it with your nooby friends! Thanks.

@sycamore1111 maybe, people I know dont really go to the beach so they stay more inland. I dont think you'd be found\raided almost ever but it would take a while for you to go back inland to get food.

i have 1 thing to add to this if you are being chased by a bear or wolf kump on top of a woodpile the bears/wolves will almost imideatly go away
