Easy implementation of push to talk, self mute, bypass mic check.
By Aisynia
This guide helps you bypass the mic check, implement push to talk, mute yourself, etc. Very useful if you don't have a microphone or wish to use discord for communication instead. This game's always on hot mic is a poor idea, but we can fix that.

Introduction
One of the chief complaints I see about this game is that it strictly requires a microphone to play, even though many people may not have a microphone, or feel comfortable speaking on one. To be clear, to my knowledge, you may still need a microphone to use this method, but you won't be required to speak with anyone.
DISCLAIMER
If you join public games like this, you will not be able to communicate with others, and it will piss everyone off. Please don't do this. This method is primarily intended for and better off being used with your friends when you have some way of communicating outside the game. For instance, you may want to use discord voice instead, or you may want to simply use an out of game text chat or text chat overlay, such as with Steam. Quick communication is vital in this game, so keep that in mind.
Download and Setup MorphVOX Junior
Morphvox Junior is ostensibly a voice changing app. It can be fun to use, but it is ultimately terrible at this and will not be convincing if you actually want to fool anyone. Still good for jokes among friends though. Luckily, the voice changing is purely optional, and not what we're here for. Why we are getting this is because it creates a "virtual microphone", and this gives us total control, through the program, of how that microphone is used.

Download it here: https://screamingbee.com/morphvox-free-voice-changer

Once it's installed and opened for the first time, it will pop up with the "voice doctor". Click next and you will see a screen that needs you to record a line of dialogue. This is, I believe, the only part that will actually require a microphone. If you do not have one, you can always try pressing record and then stop anyways. It will say "level not good" in red (pictured) but should allow you to click next. If so, then we're good, if not, you may require a microphone for this stage.

Unfortunately, without doing this stage, at least one of the other things (bypass mic check) may not work. It should still work for things like push to talk, and self mute.
Basic Configuration for Use
Once this program is installed, you can go to your windows sound settings and set this program as the default microphone. In Windows 10, right click on your volume button on your task bar, and click sound settings.

Now in sound settings, go down to Input and set your input device to Microphone (Screaming Bee Audio).

When that is done, in the program itself, uncheck "Morph" and "Listen" if you so desire. Morph will change your voice, and as noted, it isn't very good. Listen will make you listen to anything you physically say through your mic, echoing it back to you. It can be useful for some things, but will quickly grow annoying.

Push to Talk
If you wish to use push to talk with in game voice chat, this is very easy. On the menu bar, click on MorphVOX, and click "Preferences..."

Click on the "Key Mappings" section. Once there, click the check box to enable Push to Talk. Then click "Set" and hit a key to map to Push to Talk, then click OK. Unfortunately, the program may not let you use every key on the keyboard, such as keys from your numpad, but most should be available and work.

When you are done, click OK to close preferences and now push to talk will work for you even in game.

BE WARNED: I believe there is an inbuilt delay in the program between when you speak and when it transmits. This is because the program is supposed to be spending time processing your voice. If your team complains that the ends of your sentences are being cut off by a second or so, just make a habit of holding the Push to Talk key down longer.
Self Mute
To permanently mute your mic in game so you can use another program, such as discord, find the speaker icon below the Morphs list. When you hover over it, it will say "Mute Microphone". Simply click this, and it will now display a red cancel circle over the icon, indicating it is muted. You can click this again at any time if you wish to unmute it.

Bypass Mic Check
Unfortunately, I believe that in order to do this, you need to have completed the voice doctor. I am not sure why, and I could be wrong. I cannot retest this. Feel free to mess around with it.

When you try to join a game or create a custom lobby, you will be smacked with the Mic Check screen. It will not let you pass unless your mic makes some kind of noise. Luckily, we have a solution to this if we don't want to use our pretty human voices.

The bottom section of the MorphVOX window will be dedicated to annoying noises you can torture your friends with. What we are using them for is to send noise through the mic to bypass the mic check. The mic check does not check for your actual human voice, only that it is making noise at all.

So the easiest way to deal with this is to just send an alarm buzzer through the mic, which the game will detect. You may need your mic to be unmuted in the program for this bit.

Simply select any sound you want (default is the alarm clock) and then press the yellow "3 bars" icon next to the drop down. Clicking the sounds in the menu will only preview them, it will not send them, so you must click on the indicated button for this to work.

Remember, With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility.
Use this program wisely. Don't use it to just mute yourself in a public match and then ruin the game for everyone because you aren't communicating. Don't use it to just blare an alarm clock through the mic at everyone every ten seconds.

You could do this, but you would be a jackhole, and then no one would play with you. You might get a giggle in the short term, but in the long term, you are only hurting yourself.

Hopefully, this guide will help make life easier for those of us wanting to use push to talk, or wanting to use discord and therefore prefer muting our in game mics.

Have fun and play nice with others.
