First of all you want to get weapons so you can defend yourself, weapons is your best friend in the unforgiving Stomping land.

You need to get the following items, materials are gathered by hitting either a tree or a rock with your axe.

Spear : 5 Wood 2 Stone.
Bow : 5 Wood 2 Stone.
Bolas : 2 Wood 1 Stone.
Shield : 4 Wood 1 Stone.

These weapons will have their places on the keys 2, 3 ,4 and 5.
I recommend you make the weapons in the same order everytime you spawn so you know what keys they are bound to, this will hopefully let you win some more fights against enemy tribes.

The Spear.
Your Spear will kill a Small dinosaur (Gallimus, Stygimolloc) in 1 hit aswell as enemy hunters.
This will be your main melee weapon delevering a lethal strike to anyone who threatend you and your tribe.

The Bow.
Your bow is your main defense together with the Bola, this ranged weapon takes a stunning 2 shots to kill an opponent, both small dinosaurs and hunters.

The Bola.
Your Bola is a great weapon to get the upperhand in a fight, simply aim with the right side of your head and throw, if you hit an enemy they will be tied up and can be pulled around.
If you look at the enemy you catched and they have their hands pulled infront of them and face in the ground they cannot get free, but if you see them get up on their albows they can get free after 7 seconds in this position.

The Shield.
Your Shield, is also your defence, but not your main beacuse a good offense is a even better defence, the shield cannot kill an enemy hunter, only the small dino the Stygimolloc.
Use the shield to stop arrows and bolas, you can even run into an enemy with the shield to knock them away, but no harm will come to them.

First when you got your weapons you want to get a rather safe location to respawn, you need to get a teepee and a firepit to cook your meat.
In case you want more people get a Totem so you can see each others names and identify tribe members.

The following buildings recipes.
Teepee : 10 Wood 4 Stone.
Firepit : 2 Wood 2 Stone.
Totem : 8 Wood 2 Stone.

The Teepee.
Your Teepee is your new spawn location, this is essential to make a tribe function, i recommend you build them in a circle or half moon.

Firepit
Your firepit is where you cook your food, or your tribes food, simply carry a piece of meat in your hand and left click the fireplace while it is not burning to add meat.

Totem
The totem is used to bind tribe members together, go to the Totem and press Join tribe if your not the creator of the totem, the leader can go and click New Hunters and accept you.
After this you can see each others names.

You can only have 1 of each building.


Where to build bases:
Green Areas considered fairly safe for base building.
Orange Areas are player travel routes and common base building areas.

Hunting is well essential for surviving.
You can only kill the small dinosaurs, for now that is the Gallimus and the Stygimolloc, they will die from 1 spear hit, 2 arrows or axe hits.

A great method is to use the bow on the Stygimolloc, it will charge you after the first hit and it will make the second shot a 99% chance to hit, you can also use the Shield, when it charges you it will break it's neck and die, your shield will break too, this method usually works but the dino can bug out and eventually end killing you witch is anoying so i recommend using a bow for now.

Gallimus is the same, this runs if you attack it tho, but it will go back to the position it got hit from sadly, it makes it too easy.
or you can prone and sneak up and spear it to instant kill, same can be done for the Stygimolloc but that is risky beacuse it can kill you if you miss.

The second hunting method is a rather passive method, where you navigate using the stars to locate the big dinos, try find dinos why are near eachother and watch the fight, and if they are not fighting lure them together.
Wait until one is dead and go get the goods.
You cannot kill a large dino yourself, either you make them fight eachother or use a mount, Ankylosaurus and Stygimolloc is the 2 mounts that can attack while you are mounted, aswell as the Styragosaurus.

If attacked by a dinosaur hit the dirt, go prone unless you can kill it.
If you get down fast enough before a large dino get to you it will not kill you.
If it is a Ankylosaurus laying down is enough, its tail will swing over you and not hit you.
The futher inland you head the more large dinos you will see, so for newcomers i recommend you stay near the beach.

Combat against players is a common thing, even on low populated servers, you will engage less enemies the longer in the jungle/forest you live.

In combat the best weapon at your hand will be the Bolas, if you train with the weapon and master hitting, you will incapaciate your enemy and you can kill them with your spear afterwards.
The combination of bola and spear is extremely lethal and i have seen few use it, but people are starting to figure it out so remember to bring your Shield.

Your shield can block arrows and bolas, if the enemy have seen you already i recommend you use the shield till they used most if not all of their bolas.

The bow is not really included in combat yet, since it is tough to get 2 hits before they regenerate their health, but if you hit once they will not be able to sprint and that will make both hunting them down with melee easier.
but also a bola hit will be alot easier.

If the enemy is at your base and have seen it, caging them is recommended since they wont return for a long time to kill you, since they stuck in your cage.
A slight cheat but a great escape is the water, for some reason you cannot die in the water yet, so run into the water if your loosing.
Remember to breath tho, you die instant from drowning.

Mounts are great to create respect for your tribe on the server, having a large dino as mount is a real thing, the Carno creates fear, but the Ankylosaurus is the most dangerous in a enemy base since it attacks everyone but you, even your tribe members so keep it away from your own base.
The Carnosaurus can be bugged out on the second revive it will keep its instincts and run off when you get off it.
but if you release it in a enemy base in that state it will kill everything in no time.

You can ride all ground dinosaurs.

Gallimus : 25 expertise.
Stygimolloc : 50 expertise.
Styragosaurus : 100 expertise.
Ankylosaurus : 150 expertise.
Carnosaurus : 200 expertise.

It requires 1 healing herb to revive and tame a dino. (herbs can be found in caves)

Here are my tips so far.

To avoid gettin killed by large dinosaurs (most of the time if fast enough) lay down, just hit the dirt when that Carno comes running into the base, simply click Cntrl twice if standing.

Use Bolas in Player VS Player combat, it will give a huge advantage.

Eat Large meat only when hunger bar is completely visable or red. (unless large is the only you got)

Block enemy arrows and bolas with shield.

Use Acient rune altars in caves to gather expertise faster.

Always carry all 4 weapons and 10 arrows and 3 bolas if possible.

Do not think bushes will hide you from your enemy very far away, they wont load within 40-50m, so approach bases from behind hills. (try to find a blind angle behind their teepees.)

Always bring a torch to a cave obviously, and dont go alone unless you dont have friends online.

Now anything advanced but, crates disapear after 10 min so drag them around once in a while.

Fishing is a last resort to food, only do this if no dinos are within 400m+ of the camp.

Try to catch people with bolas and then release them, this will create a small amount of respect and friendlyness toward you and your tribe.

Don't build base on the beach, stay in the green areas in the Base building guide.

Avoid cooking meat in the night, this will keep your base fairly hidden, try to keep the fires burning as little as possible.

The Carnosaurus is dead if it doesnt walk, if it is walking into a wall it is still alive, but if it doesnt move it's legs it is dead.

When a tribe member logs off the totem will disapear.

If you are not on the list while holding Q then you cannot join tribes, relog to get on the list, you might spawn on the beach then just relog again and all will be fine.

In the Howling cave you can swim into some deep corners and it will let you see in the cave then.
