As time past kingdoms shifted rule; fell and grew again, or vanished to the winds of fate. All had changed but the dark forces behind those events. Each kingdom that fell told a story of treachery and deceit; each rule that passed a death hidden by an insidious motive. Each of these events left a distinctive mark; some only the Lich could regonize as these were his own. Though they lacked obvious finesse; how could this be the doing of the great Lich if the black pool had nearly consumed him? Realizing such an implication the Lich ventured far to the ends of the world where the Etheral Plains became one with the earth. Only there could he find a cult he once led, taught, ruled. Only there could he regain the identity he yearned for. Only there would he find the ones carrying on his legacy, the ones that betrayed him."
