Common Game Crashes
Common Game Crash Fixes

A very common issue with NASCAR '15 is its frequent crashes. this can be caused for many reasons, much of it connected to graphics and display settings. When trying to access your graphics and display settings go to:

My NASCAR -> Options -> Graphics Settings

When in this menu, the most important things to look for are to make sure that you are running the game in windowed mode (I know it's not ideal), particle effects are turned off, and that game is running within the range of medium graphics. For some reason with the game needs to be ran within these parameters, no matter how good or bad the computer running the game is.

This should solve a variety of issues with the game not just game crashes but also issues with AI cars showing up black in singleplayer races, and some fatal error issues with online play.

Paint Booth Issues & Related Crashes
Introduction

The Paint Booth in NASCAR '15, while fantastic, causes many issues throughout the game. From softlocking the game, to game crashes when saving, to the scheme simply not loading. The following strategies can be used to help bypass many of these issues.

Crash When Saving

One of the most common issues when using the paint booth is the game crashing or refusing to save a scheme being worked on. There are multiple fixes to this issue:

1. Graphics

Ensure graphics and display settings are adjusted as mentioned above

2. Exporting the Scheme and Re-importing it.

if a car will not save, take the file you are intending on using it and export the file. The file does not to be saved to a specific location other than it needs to be saved to a location in which the player knows where to find it. Once exported select the in game file and delete it. Once deleted select import scheme and re-select the file. This often helps uncorrupt the scheme, allowing it to be saved normally. The import and export options can be found at the bottom of the paint booth menu:
Can't Find it? Ensure you are not using the game in Big Picture Mode!

3. Ensuring 15 or less paint schemes are saved in-game

If too many schemes are saved and in your paint scheme options, it will cause issues when saving and creating more. A simple fix would be deleted any excess schemes from your menu. But don't worry! you can still export them first!

Blacked out Car in Race

Sometimes when making a car and taking it out on the track, the scheme will simply not load, and just show up as a blank black car, this can be solved by exporting and re-importing the car and/or adding another layer or decal to the car and re-saving it

Please Wait and Save Softlock

In the Paint Booth, the game will often show a "please wait" icon at the bottom of the screen. If not careful the game will softlock itself constantly showing this, unable to save and sometimes unable to exit other than Alt-f4ing. While there is no true work around, there are some tips that can help avoid this issue and its impact.

- Save Often!
ensure to save often so that if you run into a softlock not much progress is lost.
-Patience!
Often times the glitch happens because of not actually listening to the "please wait" icon on the bottom, while it does not guarantee this glitch will never show up, it does decrease risk
-Add a layer
If the game is softlocked in this glitch, sometimes adding a layer will let the game reload the scheme, and sometimes will revert this glitch.

Selected layer disappearing

Sometimes, often after deleting a layer, the next selected layer will disappear when trying to edit it. This issue can be resolved in one of the following ways:

1. (if on keyboard and mouse) click the location in which the layer was
2. Select Continue & Save

These are the solutions I have personally found in regards to this issue, and there is most likely other solutions as well.

Can't Find A Scheme When Importing

if you import a scheme and cannot find it, you most likely have hit the games unspecified "scheme limit". While the game doesn't directly mention a limit, if you have at or around 20 schemes, you should export and delete some, to make room for a new one!
Online Crashes & Related Issues
Introduction

NASCAR '15 still has a strong online community, specifically consisting of two leagues: Real Race Liga and Aflac Cup Series. Finding a game is not very common anymore, as all races are usually through private lobbies and can only be joined via an invite. Using a private lobby has much more control. No matter what way you create an online game there are still many issues that online presents, and most of them are tied to one thing: COMMUNICATION

Many of the issues are tied to not all players being able to see each other in a lobby

Not all players being able to see each other often lead to a fatal error and the game crashing, a simple way of fixing this would ensuring that all players are accounted for through voice or text chats

Exit to Lobby Glitch

When coming from qualifying often times the game will be stuck on the "exit to lobby" menu. Not to worry! the game will still load you in after the 60 second ready up period has ended! not selecting ready doesn't prevent you from racing in the race

Caution & Restarts

Cautions in NASCAR '15 can be very problematic online. This is why leagues use manual cautions and restarts. No true solution is known in regards to avoiding restart glitches or caution menu softlocks, but there are workarounds as mentioned with manual cautions and restarts

Online Leaderboards

The leaderboards in '15 are comprised of glitched lap times, this is due to many reasons, and while not fixable there is a guide available that is comprised of non-glitched lap times. While it hasn't been updated for a long time, it still gives you a better idea of what some of the best lap times are.
Audio Issues
Some people have noted audio issues with their game. A possible reason due to this is your default audio device having audio enhancements on. You can turn off audio enhancements by doing the following:

  • 1. Opening Device Manager
  • 2. Scrolling Down to the audio section and selecting the audio device in use
  • 3. Right click and select properties
  • 4. Select the audio enhancements tab and ensure it is off

There are no other known fixes for this issue at this time, if you know of any other solutions please let me know!
Conclusion
Hopefully you have found solutions to your issues you are having with the game! not all glitches and solutions were mentioned, but some of the most common ones were.

Your issue not mentioned here? Feel free to search through the discussions tab to see if there's a thread there!

Thanks and have a great day!

Xbox One Controller support issues fix:

Game supporting only Xbox controller connected via cable. Also you need to unpair and remove controller if connected via bluetooth from Windows bluetooth settings. Probably game is supporting Xbox controller connected via Xbox wireless controller adapter also, but I didn't test it. Last thing is to turn off Steam Input for this game in your NASCAR 15 library.

Does anyone know why i only have reverse and I can't go forward at all? I've tried using different buttons for the throttle and nothing seems to work. Using a PS5 controller via USB cable

I tried that already and it didn't fix it unfortunately, same with -w, unless it needs to be preceded by a ~ instead of a -

My game just won't display on startup now and earrappes me every time I try. Is there a config file for this thing so I can at least edit it to try to play it?

game does not work well with wireless controllers. Wired controllers are recommended, but if you can't use a programlike X360CE or mess around with steam controller settings
