My best guess as to something to aid players is a combo of signage and some kind of blue visual effect in the pitlane, like electrical arcs or rising particles.
The pitlane is always indicated by arrows on the HUD, which were added because of pitlanes that were not just relatively nondescript but also hidden behind blind corners and such, which is much worse. I could add signage, and probably should, but I think it makes less difference than you think (people can't find the pitlane all the time on Kallisti despite the massive sign).
-There could bear to be a little bit more length to the lane; as it sits it's quite short.
-It wouldn't hurt to have a bit clearer of an indication as to the pitlane's location; like, my first lap of the course, I was saying "Where's my pitlane?" and couldn't find it until I took a guess a lap later.
