Playing single player without AI teammates
By DUNCAN DONUTS
The AI teammates are annoying, unfun and really stupid. Here's how to play without them.

Enabling unlimited saves
Before starting off, you really, really should enable unlimited saves. To do this, go to the “Options” part of the menu and click it. It’ll send you to a screen with various options in them.

Look for the one called “unlimited saves” (where the cursor is pointing in the screenshot) and click on it. The circle next to it will turn white. Now, you can save whenever you want via the “Save Game” menu instead of having to use idiotic Save Gems.
Enabling cheats
Enabling cheats

Before playing, it’s a good idea to enable cheats in case the game screws up or you get caught in a puzzle that requires a teammate. If these situations happen, you’ll be stuck unless you use a noclip cheat.

To enable cheats, right-click on Daikatana in Steam and look for the “Properties” option and click on it.

When you’re there, you’ll be on a screen that looks like this:

Look for the “Set Launch Options” button. Click on it, and a small menu will appear. Type in “+set console 1” (without the quotation marks), like this.

Hit OK and start the game. When you’re in the game, hit the ~ key. Now, type in “cheats 1” (again, without quotations), like in this screenshot:

This will enable cheats so that you can use them in case you get stuck or you just want to mess around. Very handy. To get back to the main menu, hit the ESC key.
Starting the game
Once you’ve enabled unlimited saves, it’s time to actually get the game started.
Go over to the Multiplayer menu and click on it. You'll end up here.

When you’re there, look for a box near the top of the screen that says “deathmatch”. Look for an arrow to the right of the box, and click on it until you see “cooperative”. When you're there, you'll see this screen:

After reaching the "cooperative" section, you can select which episode and difficulty you want. Click on a difficulty's name to start a local co-op game with only you. This disables the AI partners from appearing, meaning you don’t have to babysit a bunch of braindead bots that’ll cause a game over if they die. This makes things a lot more fun!
Saving and backtracking
Don't forget that you can save at anytime by going into the menu and selecting the "Save Game" option. This lets you save your game at any time in a co-op game. It's very useful because you get sent back to the start of a level when you die. Keeping a few saves per level means you won't have to go all the way back when you inevitably get killed by one of Daikatana's dumb puzzles or poorly-placed ambushes.

Getting unstuck
If you do get stuck in game, simply type in “noclip” to fly through whatever’s causing you problems. When you’re done using it, type in “noclip” again.
Done!
Enjoy!

Congratz, dude! Great guide, very useful! I hear that the patch 1.3 enhances AI bots then dunno about it. I am a deathmatch player, but I liked this! I will play single-player again.

This is all unnecessary as the sidekicks AI has mostly been fixed in 1.3.
