I did use Black Belt up until getting actual gear for the DK (post-Ancient Ruins), and Magus to beat up all the summons before switching to summoner. But yeah I think you’re pretty spot on.
EUREKA: Ninja, Ninja, Sage, Sage. Not even close.
I'm on the fence about DK vs BB. Might be better to start with BB and swap out for DK once you get stronger equipment. I'll have to experiment.
WIND: Warrior, Monk, RM, WM. Swap RM for BM after clearing Sealed Cave. Also, give BM bows and arrows; the tiny increase in intelligence isn't worth it compared to not wasting a spell slot on mobs. Swap his weapon for rods for bosses of course.
FIRE: Knight, Ranger, BM, WM. Monk starts to show its age as a job at this point, particularly the lack of defense, and crowd control with Barrage is overall more valuable. I know Ranger isn't exactly "melee dps" but when it comes to pure damage and not getting one-shotted, Ranger is pretty nice.
The Viking class is slept on. If you give him two shields, stick him in the back row, and constantly provoke, you'll basically be invincible against most if not all mobs. If you level him enough, he can even do that against bosses (but probably not worth it compared to leveling other jobs). Great for post-Fire, pre-Water game.
The Ranger is good too. If you give him Holy Arrow, he's actually more efficient than White Mage at killing undead enemies in Castle Hein at that point in the game.
where as the remake is based on the DS version where the Onion Knight is one of the endgame Classes, kind of an Ultimate class.
(thats not Confuseing at all)
you can put all of your characters in to this class in the end game, unless you want someone to use summons. Then just select weapons based on whatever play style you want your character to go through. like melle weapons for Physical stats, and Magic weapons for Magic stats.
also, i think they can wear any armor aswell.
Freelancer is the Default Job
Onion Knight is a special Class only Recived if you finish the Missing Children quest. I dont remember when you get it, but it comes from one of the starting towns on the floating island.
it is actually a good class once you get on up a few levels, it boasts a decent stat arangement, can use any weapon in the game, and it alows the casting of all (or almost all Spells) with the exception of summon spells.
