Description
Are you not entertained?! Are you not entertained?! Is this not why you are here?!

Nawukkas

Beaches for days and flat coastal environments transition into lively desert with an Australian touch.

This is my take on the Northern Territory. This map is designed for all skill levels but it’s expected to play with at least some mods and assets.

Map info

All types of outside connections are used.
Electricity and water/sewage are set up from the start.
Treecount: 200k. Propcount: 2k.
Intersections are created for right-hand traffic even though it’s based on Australian soil.

Mods

Following mods are used to adjust networks and intersections, they are not required but highly recommended.

Intersection Marking Tool Liberties were taken.
Node Controller Renewal Intersections will not look ok without this one.
TM:PE STABLE Traffic Manager: President Edition Used so vehicles won’t cross solid lines. And needed to avoid huge amounts of traffic on the highways.
Network Skins Mostly used to make the rails look old/abandoned and for decoration.
Harmony Needed for a couple of mods.

Following mods are used for an enhanced experience, they are not required but highly recommended.

Theme Mixer 2 and choose Nawukkas Theme Mix. I did put all the themes in the one click collection.
Render it! The mod creator will eventually make a share settings functionality but for now you will have to enter the settings manually. Settings are in the picture above, won't take too long. I use the same settings for all types of textures in the options settings. Very smart to save Render it! setting as a profile so you don't have to do it multiple times.
Relight (You do not need Ultimate Eyecandy or Shadow Strength Adjuster) Enter settings in the picture above manually.
Hide It Ruinings: Trees and Props. Effects: Shore Area
Fog Controller Turn off daynight fog and enable classic fog.

Mixed notes and tips

Go to the one click collection and subscribe to all, then subscribe the highly recommended mods above, and possibly some below.
I chose to set up the visuals with Render it!, Relight and Theme Mixer 2 since it does not require that many more mods to get good looks for me. If you play with Dynamic Resolution you might need to change the post‐process technique in Render it! to None, Default or FXAA.

LOOK HERE if you don't want to Render it! The map looks ok if you turn the exposure in Theme Mixer 2 to 0.75. And change the Relight settings as follows: Brightness: 0.85, Gamma: 0.6, Contrast: 0.3, Temperature: 0.2, Tint: -0.6 andrest of them to 0. Or match up the looks with Bonbons vid.

Cubemap replacer (You do not need Daylight Classic) and choose the cubemap Cloud Layers as an example. I use Play it! to change the time of day.
81 Tiles mod to get water and electricity.
Find some vehicle collection and sub to some cool houses and this place will look very good, I promise.
It’s possible to hook up vanilla rails to the existing rail network.
Delete solar farms if you get close to the prop limit.
Shift + Control + P and choose these American railway barriers , if you want, they look nice.
Prop and tree anarchy or similar if you want the lighthouses to shine some light at night. You might have to put the height of the lights in the orange light house to ground level in move it!, sometimes they pop up a bit.
The video was just for fun, still important to turn up the sound!
Don’t forget to enable mods in the Content manager and let me know if you struggle with some settings to the recommended mods, and I'll try to guide you.

Abouts

With this heightmap [www.google.com] I wanted to make an almost entirely flat area inviting and challenging to build on, heavily inspired by the environment of the Northern Territory. I went to town with resources, Theme mixer 2, Relight and Render it! to make the landscape feel busy and somewhat realistic while keeping the prop and tree count low.

In real life, this place has not even as much as a hint of civilization. So I imagine this place to be an abandoned industrial project, to justify all the networks and everything man-made. Unfortunately, the vanilla rails and roads just didn’t cut it for me to this map. If you don't want the networks you can easily remove them with MoveIt, select only nodes, draw large squares over the networks and then delete.

Inspired by Random5’s recent Claude Monet, I wanted to create some art myself. I present to you; Australian Heisenberg. Though, the bulldozer will be enough for this one.

Thank you to all the themes and assets creators and of course Mr Bonbon for putting in a helluva shift for the map community. Also big thanks to one of the goats, Sidai, for taking a look at my map.

Thank you for rating the map above and leaving your comments below. Drop a screenshot with an imgur in the comments if you build something cool, I’d love to see!

Thanks for the prompt reply. You were right--I turned off Ultimate Eyecandy and Daylight Classic, reloaded your theme in Theme Mixer and all was well. Looking forward to starting building.

Yeah, those roads look wierd. No probs at all!

Ooooh, I see. Yeah I ditched the 81 Tiles Mod, because I have read multiple times, that it's causing bad issues lately, so I went back to 25 Tiles.
If it's that simple, I can just live with the roads, because I'm most likely not going to see them if they are outside of my tiles or I give that mod a try.

This weird roads bothered me so much, that I could not play the map. Although it's basically a kinda flat and empty map, it's amazing how nice the vegetation is right on point and feels so pleasing.
Thank you very much - appretiate your help!

Hello! Yes, so, the game does not bother to render the roads etc outside of your unlocked tiles in the game, and the same for the editor. Two ways around this, either unlock all tiles in the 81 tiles mod, or use the common ground mod. In the map editor you have to use the common ground to get the rendered networks. Glad you like it and good luck!

Hey mate, I really like your map, but have a little problem. My streets are not flush on the ground like they should be. I even tried to replace them in the editor with vanilla roads, but they have the same problem.
Here is an image: https://i.imgur.com/TvTU2IL.jpeg

Do you have any idea why this is? I have never had such problems before. I just checked a few maps and found 2 maps I like, which yours is one of this. But weirdly, both maps use these concrete roads assets and both maps actually have this problem for me. Now I don't know if it's these roads, but like I said... even trying to replace them with vanilla roads does not fix.

Hey and thanks a lot!:) The lat/long is to my understanding included in the Theme mixer settings, it could be that ultimate eyecandy is overriding those setting, which I don't use. The color grading in Render it! is overriding any LUT and even though the LUT is included in the Theme mixer too, it doesn't make any difference. I do not use vanilla bloom.

My guess is that maybe you have a couple of mods that tries to do the same thing with lighting etc. For the screenshots I didn't use Ultimate Eyecandy, Daylight classic or dynamic resolution.

If the color still are off it's probably easier to uncheck the color grading in Render it! and tweak around with Relight to get the right look for you. I think Bonbon got a very nice look if you've seen his review of this map.

Hi mate. First off, this is a brilliant map and map theme, thank you! Some questions, please: I have installed all the required assets and mods and carefully applied the settings for Relight and Render It as per your screenshots. I also loaded your map theme in Theme Mixer 2. The map looks terrific but my map lighting looks 'off' compared to your screenshots. Could you please provide the lat/long setting you used? Are you using any particular LUT for this map? Could post a screenshot of the Atmosphere settings you used in Theme Mixer 2? If you use Ultimate Eyecandy did you apply any particular settings for Ambient or Global light intensity? In the Advanced tab of Render It doesn't fully show the Bloom setting; do you have Vanilla Bloom checked or unchecked? Again, many thanks for your excellent work.
