By Dominus Iniquitatis
This guide contains a mod configurator/builder (and a collection of old separate mods) to bring the game a bit closer to the PSX version.

Release Builds
Here[github.com] (builder) Please use the development build for now as this version of builder won't work with the latest PSE release.

Development Builds

OR
Here[drive.google.com] (pre-built mod)

Notes
  • The pre-built mod contains every possible setting enabled, so if you want to customize the experience, it is advised to use the builder application.
  • Although I thoroughly test every change, it is more likely for bugs to occur in the development builds.
How To Use
IMPORTANT: If you've installed any mods from this guide before, then proceed to the %game_root%/mods and remove everything that starts with PSPSX prefix.

Builder Application
  1. At launch, the application will try to detect your PowerSlave Exhumed installation directory.
    • If that's the case, you can just skip to the next step.
    • If you don't see anything in the top text fields (Game Directory and Output Directory), or paths are incorrect, or you just want to place the mod somewhere else:
      1. Press the ... button next to the Game Directory text field.
      2. Select the directory where the game is installed.
      3. Press the ... button next to the Output Directory text field.
      4. Select the directory where the mod should be placed after building (preferably to the %game_root%/mods to avoid cutting/pasting the resulting mod).
  2. Check the desired options from the list with checkboxes below.
  3. Press the Build button.

If you want to reconfigure the mod, just repeat the above operations.

Pre-built Mod
Put the PSEPSX.kpf file into the %game_root%/mods directory.
Example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\PowerSlave Exhumed\mods
OBSOLETE: Old Separate Mods
Installation Instructions
Put the downloaded *.kpf file(s) into the %game_root%/mods directory.
Example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\PowerSlave Exhumed\mods

Maps
Replaces vanilla maps by the PSX ones.
  • These maps do not support new difficulties (Hard and Pharaoh), so please don't play them on any difficulty level other than Normal.
  • Checkpoints are unavailable on these maps (just like in the original PSX version).
  • Kilmaat Colony is not replaced as the PSX map wasn't shipped with this product.
  • There are fewer team dolls, and some of them are unobtainable because PSE requires a bit more dolls to unlock the special abilities that are required to get the rest.

Ah, that makes sense. Looks like there are some subtle differences between GOG and Steam versions. Unfortunately, I don't have the GOG version, so can't check it myself.

I'm not sure if it will cause any errors in-game, but try downloading the development build and continuing after the validation error.

Well... i have this game on GOG so maybe that's the problem... tried validating and reinstalling it there and nothing changed... so yeah... problem may be exclusive to gog

Huh, I'm not sure. As much as I can see on the SteamDB, there is only one version of this game, which doesn't depend on the region. Try validating the game files through Steam.

Oh btw i forgot to say earlier. When i use the app you made there is some "validation failed. Game data archive CRC-32 mismatch. Calculated EA9F5408, expected BE91B2AF" error

And i have no idea why it happens.
