Intro
For any basics of how the game works, you can check the Codex in game. Here I only write about what works for me. If you want a shorter read, just read up to the numbered points. Anything after is more detailed explanation. (Somehow this turned out to be really long.. much longer than I intended! 😅)

PS.. This is my first ever strategy guide, I like to skim through reviews/guides but am too lazy to write them myself. Most times from reading different guides, everything would be covered. Somehow this time I haven’t come across the notes I have below (not that I have been through every single guide :P), and so I decided to write down what works for me - in case I decide to give the game a break and come back after some time. And also, to share, so please feel free to leave a comment / reactions 😊

What works for me:
1. The number one priority is to upgrade the Car Storage. This is expensive, but you’ll want to purchase at least Storage 2 as soon as possible. Hopefully after the first adventure. Storage 3 is less of a priority. [details later]

2. Check the Trophy tab from time to time, and claim them only when you need to. Remember you can look at but cannot claim Trophies at the choose Characters screen on starting a new adventure. [details later]

3. If you have more money, the second upgrade would be the fuel capacity. Depending on how you manage the route and whether you can find more fuel as you go, this upgrade might not be necessary till later.

4. When starting a new adventure, at the picking characters screen, this is where you should upgrade all character’s equipment, using what you gained from the previous adventure. [details later]

5. Choose characters with a spread of Perks. This will allow for more choice options in game.

6. The game starts with only one character with Medkit Skill, but as you upgrade the characters, anyone able to get the First Aid Skill should get it. For characters using a Disintegrator, Quantum Leech is a must have. Use the First Aid/Quantum Leech as much as possible during combat, and only use Medkit as a back-up. This will save on Supplies and maintain a constantly healthy crew. [details later]

7. If you ever run out of fuel you can still carry on by foot. I just grab any combat chance to First Aid everyone and pray I find fuel soon. If necessary, I can also use Medkit without needing to combat. Running out of fuel is really not ideal, but still do-able.

8. Other than during combat, you can always access the Teams tab, even while in an encounter/trading - meaning you can repair/medkit/change gear just before a combat / as you’re trading. If you have limited Car Storage, this will be useful.

9. It is not necessary to carry the Repairkit into combats. Armors should be repaired before entering a combat. This will free up the item space for the repairer to carry a grenade/crystal/etc for combat.

10. Reload at any stage (in-fight or after) only top-up and wont waste ammo. You can also reload individual characters on the Team screen after the combat.

11. Managing the bravery well and you’ll get a few extra special actions (such as bonus coming from armors (run further/hide better/reduce damage), Evade, use First Aid Skill, etc).

12. Prioritise killing Officers and High Priestess, as they will manipulate other enemies to attack more than once. Other enemies of note are Medics (can heal a massive amount), Battle Hund (covers a large distance and occasionally cause bleeding) and Infected (will blow up, not suitable with knife attack).

The massive equipment upgrade: Car storage vs Choose characters screen
For me, this is a rather important point. The Car Storage is not only where I chuck stuff throughout the adventure, it is also where I keep all the loot for later, store the Repairkit when not used, and shuffle things during Trading.

The jeep has a limited space till you open up Storage 2 and 3, each costing $5000. These are for any wearable equipment (weapon/item/armour). Fuel/ammo/supplies have their separate and dedicated space.

During an adventure you can gain equipment from combats/encounter. This is the main method of acquiring better items (i.e., instead of from trading – you can, but very expensive!). The characters start out with basic items so you always want to compare the stats of a newly acquired equipment vs that of the characters’ current equipment, and swap out immediately if it’s better.

Now, as you constantly get new equipment throughout the adventure, you’ll constantly be upgrading. Having said that, anything that is worse than the current equipment or a type that doesn’t apply to your current characters, doesn’t necessarily mean they are useless. On the contrary, they might be useful for characters you didn’t pick for this adventure. However, you can only use them on those characters at the screen where you pick characters for a new adventure. So, if you’re as frugal as I am, you’d want to hold on to those items till you’re able to give them to the other characters. Hence why you need more jeep space. You can always sell the lower grade equipment if you know they have basic stats or if you run out of space, but it’s always nice to have extra space and bring home new toy for the other characters. And remember, you can also have spares of the same armour to swap out instead of repairing.

Ideally, you want to upgrade all available characters’ equipment every time you’re back to starting a new adventure. I allocate the better equipment according to my preference of characters (e.g., say I definitely want to use Omar, he would obviously get the first pick of the best equipment; vs if I am unlikely to use Miguel, he’ll get the worse upgrades). After this massive upgrade, I move all the basic equipment into the Valuables space, to keep the jeep clear again before starting the new adventure. This way you start off with valuables to sell and ensure any unpicked characters come with nice equipment when you find them on the map. Depending on the jeeps’ space, I keep any higher-grade items that I can’t give to unlocked characters yet, or a spare of the best equipment that might come handy later for the chosen characters. An important thing to remember is that the system doesn’t remember your massive upgrade if you don’t start the new adventure! I did this once where I upgraded everyone’s equipment and closed the game without starting a new adventure.. What a wasted effort..

Trophies: emergency backup
I tend to forget the Trophies in earlier games, as some trophies kick in automatically (like unlocking new adventure/character and gaining exp). But they are quite important.

Trophies should be used strategically – as a way to give directions of things to achieve, and as timeously backup to get extra fuel or to upgrade equipment. You’ll get a notification on the top left corner, the moment you achieve the trophy, but you can also look at them anytime in the Trophies tab. As mentioned before, the only time you can’t claim them is at the new adventure picking characters screen. Here’s how I use them:

• I watch out more specifically for unlocking fuel/supplies/money/equipment.

• New adventures start with refreshed amounts of fuel/ammo/supplies. It is a waste to claim these at the end of an adventure, as you won’t carry them over to the next adventure. I would rather save for them for when I actually run out.

• Upgrading equipment is always useful but only if your characters can use them, or they will take up precious space in your jeep. Consider claiming them towards the end of an adventure for the character "at home".

Healing: First Aid, Quantum Leech & Bravery
Medkit seems to be a built-in character skill. If a character doesn’t come with it, they won’t be able to learn it later. However, First Aid is a skill that can be learnt as characters level up. Although not all characters can learn it, and some learn it only at the max level, this skill is not as uncommon as you might think. This is extremely useful, as it’ll open up your character choices, and increase the chance of maintaining a healthy crew. Best of all, it doesn’t use any Supplies! (one less resource to worry about).

Apart from prioritising the first shot at the enemies, I like to do First Aid at the start of a combat, while the characters have full Bravery points. I would place my First Aider next to the character low on health. If you have multiple First Aiders, you could easily get everyone back to full health very quickly. Obviously, this means you have to manage Bravery.

By the same token, managing Bravery allows for other manoeuvres like Evade/Hunker Down/Sprint etc. This brings me to Quantum Leech. In my opinion QL is probably the best medical skill in the entire game. It damages the enemy and heals health of the attacker. Yes, a Disintegrator can have poor accuracy, but with higher level and if you find a Valkyrium Crystal that improves accuracy, a Disintegrator is really decent. Plus, it doesn’t require any ammos, which also means no reload action needed.

Strategy = all sorts of combos could work
Anyways, I think the rest are self-explanatory. I’ve read that some players preferring a type of weapon over others or say that some characters are useless. I agree that some characters are weaker than others, but it’s also about the combination of skills, how the characters complement one another, and the items you find. That’s the thing about a strategy game, it’s fluid and it’s about what works for the player. Have fun and play better! 😊

Totally agree with upgrading car storage.

Due to the fact your fourth adventurer is always added to the party somewhere in the field during the adventure, I like to keep the best weapons and armor of each type I have in the car (aside for gear for the three adventurers I start an adventure with).

That way, I always have the best available gear for the fourth adventurer waiting for them in the car as soon as they join up with the party.

Obviously this is only really practical with at least Level 2 or 3 car storage space.
