How to quickly switch between builds (PTB and Official)

This guide will teach you how to keep both builds installed and swap quickly between the two.

The guide is written as if you currently only have one version installed and have enough space on your system for both. Also, after having both, you must have enough free space to install the game again (even if it won't actually be reinstalled).
Guide
  1. Navigate to the game in the Steam menu, right click, go to manage, and click Browse local files.
  2. Move up a directory so you are in the common folder.
  3. Right click the Dead by Daylight folder and rename it to either dbdold or dbdtest, depending on which version you're currently on.
  4. Switch the build in Steam so that it downloads the opposite build in the official Dead by Daylight folder.
  5. Once it downloads and you have one version in the official Steam folder, and the other named dbdold or dbdtest, rename the current Dead by Daylight folder to reflect the version you just downloaded (dbdold or dbdtest).
  6. Now, in Steam, uninstall Dead by Daylight again. Go to properties and change to the opposite build of what was just installed.
  7. Go back to the common folder and rename the dbdold (original) or dbdtest (test build) folder to Dead by Daylight.
  8. Start installing the game in Steam again and choose the same drive that it was on before. Note: You must have free space equivalent to the install size even though the game is already there!
  9. Steam should discover missing files and it will install much faster.
  10. Any time you want to switch, simply rename the Dead by Daylight folder as was done above, uninstall from Steam, change the build in the game properties, rename the appropriate folder in the common folder to Dead by Daylight, and install the game again. It should detect the local files and be much faster.
