Intro
Integrating 3D models in a game can seem like a difficult task, and you'll probably ask yourself questions like:
"Do I need to know 3D modelling?"
"How do I use the official The Pointless Car Chase: Refueled in-game vehicle designer?"
"How do I use the controls?"

This guide details the steps to make a vehicle model compatible with The Pointless Car Chase: Refueled, and use the in-game designer to create a custom vehicle.

See video tutorial:

See the "Uploading To The Workshop" guide for instructions to upload custom vehicles to the Workshop.

The free 3D modelling program Blender is a verified program that works with the designer.

Note: If you are searching for something specific in this guide, don't waste your time reading... Use [Ctrl] + [F] to search for what you're looking for. It's much more efficient.
Preparing Models
Modelling instructions are for Blender 2.80+, using default QWERTY keyboard layout
Blender download: https://www.blender.org/download/

7-Zip download: https://www.7-zip.org/download.html

1.
Create a new folder
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Pointless Car Chase Refueled\Vehicles\[NEW FOLDER].
Your directory may be different.

2.
Go to a 3D model download website (CGTrader, TurboSquid, Sketchfab, etc.).
Find and download a vehicle you would like to use.

3.
Using 3D modelling software, import your model and un-parent the wheels from the body
[F3] > Clear and Keep Transformation
Delete all the wheels except the front left.

4.
Change the name of the materials on your vehicle accordingly.

The materials with the following names will automatically change in-game:
"body" > Main body color
"wheel" > Wheel rim
"tire" > Tire
"light_white" > Headlight
"light_red" > Brake light
"light_orange" > Signal light
"window_opaque" > Window (Opaque)
"window_transparent" > Window (Transparent)

For extra materials, create a new material that does not include any of the names listed above.
Textures, and transparency is not supported

5.
Select the wheel and reset its origin
[F3] > Origin to Geometry

Reset the position to [0, 0, 0]
[N] > Location > set (x, y, z) to (0, 0, 0).

Select the body and wheel, apply rotation and scale of mesh ([F3] > Apply Rotation & Scale)

6.
Export body object
Select body object > File > Export > Wavefront (.obj)
Navigate to your new folder (from Step 1), name the new file: "body.obj", and toggle on "Selection Only" (located on right side of window).

Export wheel object
Select wheel object > File > Export > Wavefront (.obj)
Navigate to your new folder (from Step 1), name the new file: "wheel.obj", and toggle on "Selection Only" (located on right side of window).

Only .obj files are compatible with the designer
Engine
Add an engine loop file called "engine" to your new folder.

See "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Pointless Car Chase Refueled\Vehicles\Samples\Engine Loops" for examples.

The recommended format for engine sound files are .wav files, since they have the highest quality.
Supported file types include .mp3, .wav, .ogg
