No longer do you have to roll on the astrology, you can just purchase the skills as needed with the proper dust. (This means less time variations with getting adequate skills)
With the fishing portion, I highly recommend doing some barbarian fishing once you get the gloves as this will still get you fish and fishing XP, but also strength XP. Meaning, that you can get a jump start on your combat skills without fighting anything.

@Turtles, I do agree that spending some time on summoning can be advantageous, but in that regards you too could also spend time with farming and herblore to further boost. However, the big question you have to ask yourself is how much time do you want to deviate from your main goal. (Also, what is your main goal?)
