Left 4 Dead 2 is REQUIRED for this map!


A half sandbox - half horror map. A house with 2 floors, attic and basement. It doesn't have any .png jumpscares but there are some things that could scare you. It has Ai nodes and nav mash. And rain with ambient. The map at "others" "haunted_house".


The horror half of it is atmosphere (and "some things"). I wasn't trying to copy the RE 7 house. Initially it was supposed to be a Phasmophobia like house. I was trying to make a creepy wooden house in the woods like those 2 in the game. But halfway through I noticed just how much it resembles RE 7 to me especially after a certain entity so I moved from idea to make a Phasmophobia house to make the RE 7 like house. There are some references/subtle details on the map to make it a bit more creepy.


I have a few more things in mind for this map that I may add in the future or fix some issues and pack in textures when I learn how to. Really excited to see what y'all think of this map.

i have L4D2 mounted but the trees look like glowing white holographs

Though, looking back at that comment and my memory of the map, I'm not actually sure how well clipping the stairs to be ramps would go. Seeing as they could end up steep enough that players might not be able to climb them.

@talon I'm not sure you'd get tagged or notified but your out of blue comment with some appreciation for my map just made me come back to mapping. How such small things like a comment can affect one

If there was anything I'd change in this map, it'd be the stairs. Because of how steep they are your view will jostle in a very noticeable manner that isn't particularly pleasant on the eyes. Also, would clip the staircases to be like ramps just to keep things smooth as players walk up and down them. Other than that, I love the rain and the fact the house is pitch black as though the owners are either all asleep, the power is out, or the place is abandoned.

what textures are needed? i have L4D2 but where the trees and house textures should be it's just Errors and Missing textures.

This is pretty good! The ambience is nice, the spook in the hallway actually got me pretty tense, I like this a lot.
My only gripe, the full-black lack of lighting is a killer. No house with windows is that dark. It's a bit nauseating to walk into a room pitch-black and have the windows and sky be glowing. It's disconnected in a non-spooky way haha
but good work! this is good
