the first and most important med tip i can possibly give is turn on injured teammates auto call out in advanced options !! this is super important because in addition to allowing you to see which teammates in your vicinity need healing it gives you wall hacks on those who are hurt from behind cover. this can let you prefire a corner with the crossbow, healing your teammate as soon as they round it

on the topic of the crossbow !!9opinion ahead!!ji while it's by far the best med primary, it's important to know when not to use it. often times if your healing target (and you) are safe, it's much better to give em da beam and build more uber instead of giving them a faster heal but putting yourself at a slight uber disadvantage

also if a pubber is e spamming n they dodge a crossbow, do not try and arrow em a 2nd time. give em da beam no questions asked

always bait your team and always play 2 leave!! your life as the medic is more important than literally any other member of your team, living to be able to heal is always more important than committing to a loosing fight

that being said, play the frontline and heal where the fight is!! you won't be useful if you aren't grouped with your team

always let your pocket peek corners, cross sight lines, and clear rooms before you enter ! it's very easy to walk into the same place as your pocket and fall victim to a clean sniper shot or splash damage intended for them

spread out heals !! this is very important for multiple reasons. first, if you see a friendly med go off from the team with their power class pocket, do not follow!! let em do their thing so you can stick with and heal the team. second, healing the same target as another med will half your ubercharge build rate and half the healing you do to that target. if a heal target of another med needs healing quicker, use the crossbow while the other med beams or visa versa

your build rate being halved also applies to players being healed by dispensers!! keep this in mind when building uber from the safety of an engie nest

that's all for now :3 i may edit this in the future

(lll¬ω¬) part 2
welcome to part 2 :D
first ! as requested by magocpotat, a quick discussion of crit heals. the medigun (and all unlocks) has a hidden stat which increases the healing done to the patient the longer it's been since the patient received damage of any kind. when a player has not taken damage for 15 seconds this effect will be at it's maximum and when healed by a medigun the player will be regain 72 health per second, 3 times the normal 24 health per second. players that are freshly spawned will also have this effect by default, until they take damage

this is an important stat to be aware of especially as a solo med because it can help your team to have a larger health advantage over the enemy team. there isn't anything in game that tells you when and which players have crit heals so be aware ! pay attention to who's coming out of spawn and who hasn't been in a fight for some time

the next couple tips are about surfing damage !
surfing damage is using the knockback an enemy attack gives you to direct your own momentum in a way that's advantageous to you. this can be done by jumping and crouching right before the source of damage hits you. because this is extremely similar to rocket jumping, i highly recommend hopping on jump academy and learning how to do the basics of rocket jumping before attempting to surf in game. the better you'll get at jumping, the better you'll get at surfing and vice versa !

once surfs are something you're comfortable doing in game as medic, the next step is looking for sources of knockback in game. the best way to do this is look around!! look up!! look everywhere!! as a med you should always be aware of what's going on around you especially from above. bombing soldiers that would have meant a dropped uber can turn into a clean escape with some awareness and timing :3

the last couple things i have to say before i wrap up this part are about looking out for yourself, both as a medic and a person
as a medic, make sure to heal and buff those around you before you try to heal the sniper that's already dodged 2 of your arrows from across the map. look out for yourself and those around you so in turn they can look out for you

as a person, make sure to keep in mind that you matter more than the outcome of one medic game :> the medic is by far the most important class on the battlefield and with that comes a lot of power. it can feel like you're letting your team down by not saving someone with an arrow or dropping an uber but all of these little mistakes contribute to a better understanding of the class, and what to change with future encounters

take breaks, drink water, n remember that one lost game is not the end of the world :3

shit for jumper mains
if they're using shotgun why are they using shotgun
usually a soldier not using rocket jumper will be using gunboats, so they'll take less damage, and less of a buff
most of the time a soldier will accept 250 hp as a buff, some will be demanding and need like 300 (idk why)
rocket jumper soldiers don't take dmg from the rockets, but do from fall damage
40-50 buff will be enough
fighting against jumper mains is finicky? idk if they're market garden just walk into them if you can
otherwise just juke them
jumper mains who waller and syncer are strange to say the least
just be unpredictable to juke out sync bombs and try to surf the shots the wallers will fire (they won't fire more than 2 most of the time)

How to crit heal: heal the 1hp soldier to approximately 30% so they can safely run to a corner/dispenser (without dying to spies' one shot), then ignore them for 3-5 seconds while heal/buffing others with more health so your team can keep up the push. Then you give them arrows and a buff. Done.
How to against crit heal: Pepper them with syringe gun >:)

overall very solid guide, especially the more obscure but accessible tips like auto call. though as a jumper main, i'd love to see more info on crit heals o_o
