GOVERNMENT
The Ostrumian Federation is run by a council of 7 members, which decide on big decisions. Council members are voted on every 12 years. They also have a president who acts on decisions made. They are voted on every 6 years.
MILITARY
While the Ostrumian Federation lacks in military size, their ingenuity and advanced technology makes up for this. With weapons developed (albeit in low quantity) such as fusion cannons and electron bombs, they remain a formidable foe and valuable ally. The armour that Ostrumians wear function as EVA suits, and can be used in extreme environments from freezing cold to extreme heat.
RESOURCES
A material they have a lot of interest in is exotic matter, which they use in the synthesis of strange materials such as one they call 'Gravitasium', which allows them to have artificial gravity on their ships. The purple alloy they use in everything is known as Ostrum steel. It is an alloy comprised mostly of Iron, Carbon, Aluminium, Chromium, Titanium, Obstructonium, and Infragium.
RELIGION
Ostrumians are naturally quite logical, so religions often form around things which cannot be properly logically explained. For example, 19% of Ostrumians are part of a religion known as “Electi Universi”, or “The Chosen Universe”. These people believe that this universe was chosen for life by some omnipotent being which they simply call “The Guardian”. They believe this because the laws of physics that tie the universe together seem to be so specific that, if it were changed ever so slightly, life would be impossible to evolve. So The Guardian decided to choose a single universe out of the infinite number of other universes to bear life. The reasons for The Guardian choosing this universe and even choosing any universe at all are up to speculation and belief, and certain beliefs vary between different people.
ENERGY
Their power sources are mostly pure Exotic for large vehicles/power plants, however for smaller things such as cars and motorcycles, it isn't uncommon for electric engines and even petrol engines to be used. Pure Exotic is unstable in this dimension when not bound to protons, and as such they attempt to reach a more stable state. This state being pure energy. It is possible to harness this energy, and use it for power. Exotic energy is much more efficient than nuclear power.
EXOTIC MATTER
Exotic Matter is a form of matter which is composed entirely of a quantum particle known as an Exotitron. These particles are unstable unless bound with protons and neutrons. Upon binding with an atom it can create entirely new elements, most of which have exotic properties, hence the name. There is a form of Exotitrons known as Photonic Exotitrons, in which they act similarly to photons and have their own Exotic Electromagnetic Spectrum, of which even contains wavelengths and frequencies that act similar to Radio waves, Microwaves and X-rays. These are where similarities end, however. Beyond this point is a frequency known as Aegis rays, named after the current president of the Ostrumian Federation. When Photonic Exotitrons reach this frequency, they begin to stray from their similarities to photons, and resemble more closely to Tachyons. Aegis rays are capable of moving faster than light, which allows for near-instant communication between planets and systems.
BIOLOGY
Ostrumians are race of purple humanoids with 4 eyes. Their kind are naturally good inventors, and their 12 fingers allow for very fine handling of objects and machinery. Ostrumians are carbon-silicon-hybrid based lifeforms, where their bones are made of a silicon-based crystal structure, and their flesh is made of carbon based tissues. They originated from the planet Ostrum III, from the star system Ostrum. Their tissues and cells are naturally radiation-resistant due to evolving on a planet with a weaker magnetic field, which resulted in it being very easy for radiation to enter the planet's atmosphere. As such, Ostrumians are much less likely to get cancer. Even if they do get it, their body is much more capable in fighting against it than many other organisms.
MISC.
This is a section with multiple random topics that don't have enough info to be their own section. This section may be slowly expanded upon over time.

Due to Ostrumian's high toxin resistance, they are mostly immune to things like alcohol, nicotine and other addictive / damaging substances. As such, smoking and drinking are perfectly legal for ages above 13. Many regular drugs also have little to no effect on their bodies, and are used a lot in everyday lives. Ostrumians have a plant analogous to weed which is used in tea, cocaine is often mixed with caffeine in energy drinks, and methamphetamine hydroxide is used as a common table salt. The only drugs that are illegal are exotic compounds, such as tricontraurium aluminate (or as it is more commonly known; TCA). This substance is ingested as a crystalline powder which gives a feeling of euphoria, gives increased adrenaline and increased strength. In higher dosages, it can cause severe hallucinations.

Another example of this would be Magnystium Obstructate Decacontrauride, also known as Mod, which is a drug composed mostly of exotic elements. Effects may vary based on quality and healthiness of the individual consuming it, however general symptoms include: Greatly increased reflexes, greatly increased speed and temporary loss of emotions besides euphoria. After these effects wear off, side effects may include: paleness, fragmented memory, shivering, tiredness and sluggish thoughts. Extended use of the drug may cause further long term systems such as: Increased likelihood of strokes, dementia, skinniness, insomnia, depression and vomiting. There are also rare symptoms that can come with overdosing, such as: Rapid decrease in bone density, crystalline formations growing on the eyes and rapid loss of bone marrow.

There are many diseases and birth defects that Ostrumians have. While their body blocks most radiation, their industrial revolution caused a higher amount of radiation. The effects of this are still seen across many Ostrumians to this day. One mostly harmless birth defect is a disease in which Ostrumians can be born with 6 eyes. These extra set of eyes are likely to be completely useless; meaning that the cells and tissues of the new set of eyes are intact but don't transmit signals to the brain or the brain isn't sure how to interpret the signals these eyes send. If they do work, they are more likely to have colour blindness in these new pair of eyes, or are more likely to simply have bad eyesight. In rare cases, skin grows over these new pair of eyes instead of forming eyelids that a person can open. In this case and in other cases that cause the eyes not to work, they are usually surgically removed.

In the same way that Exotic Matter breaks down when in our reality, regular matter breaks down in hyperspace. The only reason spaceships don't break down is due to realitic stabilizers. If someone were to exit the ship while in hyperspace, they'd be converted into pure energy very painfully. These realitic stabilizers simply ensure that the same laws act upon the ship regardless of whether its in regular reality or hyperspace. As such, the exotic power generators still work on the ship while in hyperspace. Just as realitic stabilizers exist, realitic de-stabilizers have also been a concept. The device is considered a war crime by the Ostrumian federation.

While the Ostrumians can reliably reanimate people from the dead (if they haven't been dead for longer than a few days), doing so can cause serious, and most of the time permanent, brain damage. If a soldier is reanimated even once, they are immediately considered unfit for duty due to injury, and are discharged. Being revived after one day can cause loss of skin colour and worsened eyesight. After two days it can cause loss of hair, hearing loss and further loss of eyesight. After three days, it can cause the body to continue rotting even after it is still technically alive. Furthermore, the tissues that make Ostrumians radiation resistant break down and makes them susceptible to small amounts of radiation. Reviving someone after one day usually isn't done as it can be seen as cruel.

The main reason Void Division soldiers are considered to be so dangerous is not for their tanky armour and absurd strength, but the fact that they can follow orders from their commanders without question. This is due to the augmentations they have in their brains. If a regular soldier is presumed to be dead but is later to be found alive, and does fit certain specific criteria, they can be given the option to become a Void Division soldier. If they choose so, they will continue to be announced dead. Once they're a Void Division soldier, their fingerprints will be surgically removed. Then, they will undergo heavy augmentation to increase strength and make them follow orders. From this point on, they will have no emotions. The surgery they go through is permanent. If a Void Division soldier is no longer able to perform their tasks, whether it be that they have lost limbs or have become paralyzed or something similar to that, they are euthanised.

Void Division soldiers are often idolised by those in the military and by many civilians. Committing to become a Void Division soldier is to sacrifice what makes a person an actual person just for the sake of protecting those of the Ostrumian Federation. Families of those who become Void Division soldiers are not told that their relative has become a Void Division soldier, for their own safety. This does mean that many people choose to believe that members of their family have ended up being Void Division soldiers upon hearing that they died in the military, despite how incredibly unlikely it is due to the specific criteria a person must follow to become one.
