Description
This mod adds new fight mechanisms.

Basic Melee Attacks
Beware this is based on delay between pressing and releasing the attack button.
  • With this mod, melee attacks are triggered when releasing the attack button. (not when pressed)
  • When you hold attack button for less than 0.5s, you make a Quick Attack.
  • When you hold attack button between 0.5s and 1.5s, you make a Medium Attack.
  • When you hold attack button for more than 1.5s, you make a Slow Attack.
  • On Fight tab of Character page you can monitor the evolution of the timer (red indicates you cannot attack).
  • Deactivated with range weapons.

Combo
Beware this is based on delay between attack triggers.
  • When you trigger an attack less than 2.5s after the previous attack, it is considered as a combo.
  • When you realise a predefined combo sequence, specific attacks can occure.
  • On Fight tab of Character page you can monitor the evolution of the combo (up to 6 max).

Current Combo List
  • Quick, Quick, Slow: Swipe with 4 meters distance (all Zombies around you fall on the ground).
  • Medium, Quick, Slow [Long Blade Only]: Cut the leg (the target zombie falls on ground and becomes a crawler).
  • Quick, Slow [2 handed] [Long Blunt] [level 2+]: Stun (the target zombie is staggered for 8 seconds).
  • Combo list can be modded see AFightMechanism_ComboAttackList.lua line 7 for the Quick Quick Slow exemple.

Dash
  • Dash by pressing the associated key ('F' by default).
  • The Associated key can be modified with Mod Options (OPTIONS >> Key Bindings >> Combat >> Dash).
  • A dash is a very fast movement of ~2 meters in the direction faced by the character.
  • The character must be in combat stance.
  • Dash requires the destination to be reacheable. (you cannot dash through walls)
  • Timeout: You must wait at least 3 seconds after a dash to make a new one.
  • On Fight tab of Character page you can monitor the evolution of the timer (red during the dash).
  • Deactivated with range weapons.

Required Improvements
  • Dash needs animations. Any help is welcome.(done)
  • Basic attacks need dedicated animations. Any help is welcome.
  • Combos need dedicated animations. Any help is welcome.
  • Combos need to depend on the weapon type(done).
  • Combos need more effects: knockout(done), root, snare, stun(done), dot, targeted body part(leg done), instant kill, remove teeth.
  • Combos need more zones: solo target(done), multiple target, circle(done), cone.
  • Combos need placement effect: attack from front, from side, from behind, while hidden.
  • Combos need added movement effects.
  • Combos need lua control on "attack on ground".
  • Zombie research would benefit from optimization.
  • Apply the effects to other players in multiplayer.
  • Find ways to keep some balance.

It seems that between slow/medium/slow hit there is no damage difference. That's a shame.

i would love to see a stripped down version that only has the three attack speeds, i'm really not a fan of the more uhh fantastical stuff

This mod needs far more attention. Honestly my character doing the same animation swing is so boring. If this gets picked up by anyone it would do wonders for melee combat flare.

@LordSporkington the mod is unfinished, and I'm sorry for that, but I lack in 3D competencies.
Also, it is a full combat system revamp so no other combat-related mod should be compatible with both vanilla and this mod, ever.

i really hope someone can pick this up and update/remake it. i get tons of errors trying to use the dash, and the mod doesnt allow for the brutal handwork dual wielding to work. its such a cool idea and i dont think theres another mod like this out there. the simplicity of zomboids combat is definitely something i do like but the need for a little extra spice for it is great.

What a clever mod!

Would it be possible to have a submod that only implements the charged attack feature, whereas the longer it's held the more damage is inflicted (up to a max)? I'll give more steam points :D
