Just dive deep and walk away, maybe drop a decoy if you feel like it.
Of course in the type 2 its a bit harder to do it that way

Well, there´s a reason why German submarine crews had worse survival rate than Japanese kamikaze pilots.

I mean that was the case in WW2. In the beginning Great Britain and the US were more or less helpless against U-boats but once they figured out how to spot U-boats, they quickly went out of fashion. Even most german Admirals said that U-boats are not viable any longer. Churchill famously said that the only thing he was worried about were the german U-boats, until they figured out ways to deal with them. Even the few german Ships had better results than most U-boats. Even the outdated ones.

Unfortunately the AI is stupid and continues to follow you... I used to like that technique before I got better at predicting torp trajectories, but now, I just stay in the open and pop the escorts off one by one as they come close...

have any of you ever tried hiding directly under a remaining merchant ships when persued by destroyers? it works suprisingly well, on max speed you can even keep up with the ship above you, and since they can't pass directly over you, they can't deph charge you, and the noise from the merchant decenty masks your ship

U-Boats had a casualty rate of 80%, probably the highest of all arms during WWII.

Torps are for armed merchantmen and destroyers, otherwise, use the deck gun!
