Get ready (slow boil 1 - 50 hours)

Well the voices told me to do a deathmatch guide so here it is:

Play Objective Mode in this wonderful game first. Play arena mode also.
Why?
This is a deathmatch guide Puggle stick to the point....?!?

The reason I recommend 1 - 50 hours of co-op play is to learn the guns, learn the melee weapons and explosives and practice them.

What you need to do is aim, shoot (stop laughing) and reload.
See how these weapons feel to you.

From this you will develop your Brainbread 2 play style to go on to killing your beloved fellow human beings.

Guns Guns Guns

Practicing these guns now will help you in the heat of battle.

The beretta 9mm default handgun is a great weapon to practice if you are serious about deathmatch.

This gun is very accurate, quite powerful and if you practice getting off the full clip into one or two or three targets quickly this will stand to you in deathmatch mode. Try this now with zombies.

The Rex Magnum is available at spawn on the Termoil map. The magnum is one of the best guns for deathmatch. Remember that the damage values change when playing PVP (player vs player)

6 shots of pure joy the Rex Magnum really comes out of its shell in deathmatch mode.
Aim for the head and practice head shots as they are nearly always fatal (target may have 300 megahealth and armour)

Reloading needs to be taken into account here due to the 6 shot low ammo. If you want a good magnum reference or role model check out Clint Eastwood in the Dirty Harry films especially 1 + 2.

The handcannon (double barrel shotgun) is one of the best weapons in deathmatch.
Fierce yet beautiful, if you master this weapon and it is available on the map you are playing get your hands on it at any opportunity.

I recommend if you are a beginner or wishing to upskill with this weapon to go to the Termoil objective map and in ZED publishing (straight ahead from spawn and hop up the crates) there is a handcannon.

Bandits are now your practice dummies so what I want you to do is roam about the hallowed halls of ZED publishing and shoot them using only the handcannon.

Be aware of the two shots this weapon has (left click and right click)
This gun can be reloaded even after one shot has been discharged. Get up close and inflict massive damage on your foes, whilst at the same time learn the shoot and reload rhythm of the gun.

Whilst using the handcannon practice your kick (mouse 3) and gun bash (v). If you are forced to shoot from medium to far range with the handcannon the above combination may help you finish off the target.

Therefore we have - left barrel, right barrel, kick and gun bash - use these now on our beloved bandits.

Practice running into a room and quickly turning and shooting a target you have just passed by. If you get this right it's lethal in deathmatch mode. A good pairing and loadout for the handcannon is Rex Magnum + grenade.

With these 3 we have near, far and groups of opponents covered.

The Remington 870 pump action shotgun
Not as powerful as the handcannon but with 8 shots. The Remington 870 can be a little slow in heated battles but it is a good gun to learn due to its high availability in the deathmatch maps of Brainbread 2

Use this gun as a beginner on zombies in arena or objective mode first to see how it handles and to find out how you feel about it.

The Remington 870 can be reloaded at any stage but be careful as this may make you vulnerable to attack if you don't pick the correct moment.

The "follow through" motion applies here to this gun as it does to shotgunning in real life. What this means is shoot and track your target as you fire. This will help you achieve the widest hitting area possible on the target.

Kick and gun bash are useful here with the shotgun in the combination shoot kick and gun bash. This means we can attack 3 times in quick succession. Please practice this as you might kill me using this technique.

Run Forest Run
Based on my doom days I still use this style of play and I recommend it for Brainbread 2

What does this mean one might ask?

Do not play this game like Call of Duty or something slow and stealthy.
Go completely berserk (in a calm collected fashion) nb - this means in the game lads
Unleash the fiery screaming skull within

(yes I know there are no motorbikes in the game)

  • Stay hydrated (drink water)
  • Run
  • Don't stop
  • Circle strafe and shoot
  • Get guns, ammunition, explosives
  • Constant situational awareness (look around and remember)
  • Learn the player spawns (don't spawn camp its bold)
  • Learn the weapon spawn points (are they random? is there a fixed weapon here?)
  • Learn the health spawn points and how much health is rewarded
  • Learn where you can get armour - grey, blue or red. When you get armour upgrade it asap. Top it up. Stay alert stay alive. Your ego needs you.
I'm old - listen

So all you whipper snappers come on in with your Call of Duty faces on you. Forget all that. You need to rip and tear.

Now that you have done what you are told and practiced the guns, melee weapons and explosives many zombies should now be dead.
I love a happy ending.

Join a deathmatch server that is near your location in the world. A better ping will help you starting off.

I'm here what do I do now?
Kill everything and everyone you see indiscriminately.
If it stands still shoot it, if it moves shoot it. If you think somebody is there there and you have an explosive throw it.

Forget the etiquette of "I was away from the keyboard" or "Bruh I was typing". If somebody calls you a "try hard" TRY HARDER. Get kicked for being too good if you have to.

I do not know what Bruh means I'm old I will kill you and move on....

Feel free to complain about the above I will never change my play style for any of the above pathetic mewling. If you want to win and have serious fun you can. If you just want everyone to be nice choose a different hobby (or play co-op).

This doesn't mean I'm a bad person (at least that's what I keep telling myself)
Power up

You might spawn with fists
You might spawn with a knife
You may have a brick

We need to think about upgrading
We want slots 1,2,3 and 4 filled.
As the great philosopher Clint Eastwood once said "I don't want to die for lack of shooting".

Slot 1 - melee
Slot 2 - pistols and SMGs
Slot 3 - main weapon - shotgun, rifle, minigun, flamethrower
Slot 4 - explosives - boom

Kick and gun bash
When holding a gun kick using mouse 3 and press V when close to your enemy.
This will maximise your damage whilst saving ammunition for the next target.
Think of this like another weapon.
This technique will not work whilst holding a melee weapon or explosives so be aware of that.

Powerups include:

Predator - hey you're cheating. No it's a powerup that makes you invisible and you won't take fall damage. Anytime. You can be stealthy here but be aware that there's still a gelatine man visible for people to shoot at. Try staying still (for the first time in forever) and this may reduce the invisible man effect.

Ninja Speed up - take things up a notch with this speed increase. Useful for running up on people, storming rooms, shooting like a madman then running away or general chaos creation. If the match has gone boring this could help you get some kills, preserve your own life and change the dynamic.

Critical damage powerup - adds extra damage to your weapons. Down side is you glow as with most of these power ups

Megahealth painkiller - tank. You are now 300 health (if taken at full 100 health) Try to have red sheriff armour a good side arm and a minigun. Maybe bring some explosives too. Anyway you are going to be hard to kill now. Be aware of pro players however who can still shred your health. On the plus side this is a good way of getting to know how good they are. These powerups don't last long so with megahealth get into as much conflict as possible.

Regeneration health - your health will regain itself. Now be careful with this one. You can still be killed easily so you must use the regeration in the short times you aren't be attacked by somebody.
I have found myself die with this one as I said to myself hey thats great now I'm healing. Apathy kills folks.

Tactics
Spawn cycling

I am going to talk to you about a thing I call spawn cycling.
If all players are running around the map and nobody is really finding and killing anyone the match can take a lull.

This needs to change.

It might be in your control, it might be up to somebody else to alter the dynamic of the match.
Be aware that when somebody is killed it may create a wildcard effect to what you might have just become accustomed to.

If all players are alive for too long they will have better weapons, armour and maybe a powerup.
Newly killed and respawned players won't have these advantages, find them and frag them.

The dynamic of the game will change.
When this happens you need to be ready well armed, well armoured and preferably holding a powerup to exploit this change.
Watch who is dying and how they were killed. You will get tipped off about threats and opportunities. Somebody in the server might be holding your favourite weapon. Now we must Charlton Heston him and take it from his or her cold dead hands.

Targeting

I remember going out hunting and seeing a load of crows and thinking about shooting all of them.

If you don't focus in on shooting one you will miss them all.
The same principle applies here.

If you encounter a gunfight immediately choose your target and stick with it no matter what happens until he falls.
Then move onto the next target. This approach works and tends to confuse other players.

The pressure of being in a multi person shootout can get to people and things get frantic quickly.
You can use this simple rule to help yourself get at least a kill out of the ensuing fracas.

You could choose to target the most bloodied player first to heighten your chance of a score.

Item denial, Health Denial, Weapon Denial

This was a tactic I came up with playing Final Doom. If you collect the item/health/weapon/armour the other players won't have a chance to use this against you. On the map "Rooftop" you can toss weapons over the side, grab the nearby weapon from the spawn and continue. The repercussions of this means:

I spawn in with a basic loadout, no armour, 100 health
I now am looking around for armour - there is no armour
I look around for a gun - I still have a basic loadout
I need a powerup or something to give me an edge - my blade is a butter knife

Suddenly I have been fragged again due to my inability to kill or defend myself or even to deter an attacker. If this cycle continues my morale will drop, I might rage quit and I could find myself giving away kills easily to my opponents. I don't know why I'm telling you this.

Send an emissary grenade:

Before you turn that corner send in an explosive if you have a grenade or propane tank. Give it a whirl. You never know you might hit something.
Yes this is technically firing blind or in the dark but this may have other runoff effects. Players may become interested and seek out the blast. This gives you an opportunity to ambush them when they arrive.

Random firing as a distraction
There's only a few people on the server. There's nobody around. You have a full clip. Let loose. Make noise then run. Somebody might hear this and try and kill you. Instead, you kill them.
Going in a loop around the map can be an effective tactic here. You shoot shoot shoot. Then run and do a loop coming the opposite way to which you originally fired. A person of interest might be here for you to do away with.

I have no friends and nobody likes me
Congratulations you did it!
If you are playing Deathmatch and everybody says your name after a curse word you've done it!

Look forward to joining the server and immediately being the target of a vote kick (that means people do not want to be fragged by you)

The new tryhard slur - they are intimidated and are trying to take the steam out of your ears by saying you are unpopular. Try harder immediately.

People may scream into their mics so if you don't like screams turn down the volume or mute them.

Me personally I play with no sound on. It's not a good idea but as soon I get shot at I turn around and shoot back.

If there is anything to add I will update this guide.

Happy Birthday Brainbread 2 and thank you.
