Packing sound files into .vpk format
If you intend on packing your custom sound content into .vpk files, the it is CRITICAL that you utilize as little space as possible due to the fact that the Workshop only allots 2GB of space total.

Any sound files packed into .vpk format will stop playing or loop at the length of the original sound file.

For example:

The default tank music in L4D2 is 52 seconds. If you pack a 1:32 min tank.wav file in your .vpk, the game will loop the music at the :52 timestamp thus wasting the extra 40 seconds of the file and space that 40 seconds the .wav file format takes up.

For a custom tank music mod your custom sound mod must be :52 seconds (or it must match the original length of the file you are modifying in the .vpk) as it will loop at :52 regardless of the length of the file. Of course the file can be shorter than the original but no longer than the duration of the original file.

If you want to replace the music with a longer sound file, you would need to overwrite the existing sound files in your L4D2 directory and snd_rebuildaudiocache
The List
L4D2 uses .wav files for a majority of sounds.

It is the sample/bit rate that must be modified within your sound flie in order to match the original files settings for the music/sound to playback correctly in game.

If your addon playback in game is sped up or slowed down, this means that the sound file you packed in your .vpk is not in the correct sample rate.

try 16bit
for some reason in audacity it says the audio is encoded in 32bit float but really its 16bit PCM

Hope anyone is still around here...

Got an issue with my Tank Voice Mod.
The Audio Files are Mono, 44100Hz, 32 Bit, same length as the default audios.
Audio plays well in game BUT there is Sound-Squeeking .
Yes, I tried snd_rebuildaudiocache already.

Anyone knows what the problem is?

This one is missing, probably most l4d1 sounds are missing ( this is safe room music )

You're missing A LOT of sounds.
