GE U25C

Almost at the end, with one more model left to go. Here we got the obscure brother to the OG, the 6-axle U25C.

The U25Cs came into existance in 1963 specifically for the Oroville Dam Project (10 units were ordered for the project), which was launched to construct a dam over the Feather River, with help by the California Department of Water Resources. Outside of the project, 113 units were ordered for different railroads, as there was hesitation to buy six-axle units for mainline use, prior to the rise of 6-axled units. The units had the regular traction motors, generators and Westinghouse Air equipment. The units racked up 2500hp and have since resulted in the six-axle U-boats gaining more sales. Today, LS&I 2501 is on static display in Marquette, MI, right beside the railroad she used to run and is the sole survivor of the U25C.
