Military Barricades
Military barricades include barricades such as landmines, sandbags and barbed wire.

Landmines: Landmines are very effective, either to a human or zombie it can kill one easily, a good barricade to trapping your house while your away, so bandits cant steal your loot or claim your base. They can be crafted from raw explosives, which are also found in the military, but are very rare, 2 raw explosives and a can will do it, (WOW an actual use for empty can???).

Sandbags: Sandbags are useful against zombies, not humans, since you cant pile bags over eachother, humans can just jump over them, but for zombie defence they have to hit it over again a lot. This cant be craftable. cloth is found usually in civilan areas commonly.

Barbed Wire: A small, spiked and wide good trap for zombies AND humans, zombies, if weak will die with it on impact and and humans will bleed when going through it, it can be crafted by crafting 2 wires, which are found in military or civilian.

Snare: A very good civilian trap. It is found in farm houses, but very rare to find. Its bad against zombies, because it will only take away 50% of their health, but to humans, it will break their legs and hurt them, probably for physically than verbally.
Civilian Barricades

These are weak short barricades and I suggest using Military only, but these could be useful too.

Door: The door is more of a usuable furniture than barricade, but it doesnt let a zombie crawl or walk into your base, it can be made using a wooden frame and 1 bolt.

Wooden wall: a big help for doors and outside barricade, it can be built around your house keeping bandits and zombies out, and is crafted by using 2 wooden pillars and 2 wooden frames.
Where Is The Best Houses For Bases

ITS A TRAP

Sorry, needed to get that out of my system, first is the best houses.

1. CAFE. The cafe in ocean city is good, the city im referring to doesnt really have much of a name, but if you see a city with a port near it where the zombies roam, thats it. The cafe gives only one door to get in and out, but if your a bandit you can simply jump in the windows, so put sandbags in the windows and some woodens fences in the doors, apply some caltrops of barbed wire and your base is secure.

2. TOWER. There is a specific military base in PEI (Prince Edward Island) which has a tower, with only 1 door and only 1 window to jump through, the base can be secured easily with some sandbags, barbed wire or caltrops which are somewhat easy to find in the military.

3. ANYWHERE. You can choose mostly anywhere, because you can secure it, but it would be easier to find these places instead.

These are the bases i like to use mostly, but if you like to choose others or know better ones, please tell me.
Other Ways To Protect Your Base
Barricades are good to protect them, but there are other ways.

1. Guards: If you have friends or allies to aid you in the apocalypse, one of you should stand guard and protect the base while the other sleeps or gathers supplies from another building.

2. Zombies: This could possibly be a good idea. if the undead arent trying to kill you, or havent noticed you yet, you can let them be there because it would scare off unarmed survivors and if the survivor shoots the zombies it will alert you and you'll be ready.

3. Vehicles: The vehicles are a great way to get around the map instead of walking, but they could be infront of your door entrance, the undead could blow up your car, but that would kill them. Drive your car so it cover up your door from undead, but not bandits because they could drive it out of the way
Other Advice
1. Remember to have food and water in your base.

2. For me, its better to never have a base. Commenter: "what the heck is wrong with this dude, he makes a guide about bases but doesnt have one!". I had a base, and i dropped food on the ground because i thought it would stay, but it disappears everytime you disconnect. i like to have a base but never ever to drop stuff in it so dont unless you never disconnect, but you can make lockers and chests to hold supplies.

locker: holds 4 spots but is harder to be destroyed, you should put important stuff in it. can be crafted with a chest and 3 scrap, mine some stones with a pickaxe for scrap or just find it at construction places

crate: the main backbone of crafted lockers and chests. holds 4 spaces and can be crafted by 3 wooden crosses and 2 wooden frames. wooden frames can be made by boards. wooden crosses can be made by 2 wooden supports.

chest: holds 6 spaces and is made by crafting a crate with 3 wooden crosses. Its good for holding food and water, it can be bigger by placing a chest near it and having 12 slots, i think.

3. its good to drop a sniper rifle on the roof of your base or have one in your inventory to snipe zombies or bandits.

That it is all, i hope you enjoyed my guide and that it helped you, this is my first one ever.
