First, you're not going to need GCFScape for this.

The first step is to go to your Steam Library.

At the top Left, you're going to click on the drop down menu box and uncheck Games, and check Tools.

















Next, scroll down to Left 4 Dead 2 Authoring Tools, Install it.



Now, head into File Explorer.

Go to: Program Files (x86) - Steam - steamapps - common - Left 4 Dead 2 - bin

Locate vpk.exe

Right click on it - Create Shortcut



Now drag it to your desktop.

So now that Left 4 Dead 2 Authoring Tools is setup, you're going to download the Appearance Folder from Google Drive.

Add this to your Desktop too, once done downloading.

There are 3 main folders:

Customize
HUD
Preset

Customize - Modify any of the individual parts of the model by changing it's color and how it appears.

Preset - This is for the 2nd look. Quick Copy & Paste from one folder to the materials of the main mod.

HUD - Additional VGui options for presets

PSD - The saved Photoshop file of the textures if you want to edit them yourself.

Check the example screenshots to get reference to what you're selecting.

You're next step is to locate the addon.

Head to File Explorer.

Go to: Program Files (x86) - Steam - steamapps - common - Left 4 Dead 2 - left4dead2 - addons - workshop



Select the 2 .vpk files: 2837295341.vpk / 2837303568.vpk



Drag them to your desktop.



Now you have everything you need. Next is to take the .vpk file, and drag it onto the vpk.exe.

Do this for both of them.

2837295341 - Rochelle
2837303568 - Zoey



They will decompile into folders and can be modified now.

Next, you can open up the 2837295341 folder for Rochelle. Check addoninfo.txt

Go to:

materials - models - survivors - darcey



This is the main mod's texture folder. Everything in the appearance folder will be copied and pasted here.



In the appearance folder, as stated in Part 3:

Customize: Change the visual and color of any part of the model
Preset: Pre-made reskin texture pack
HUD: VGui option for other presets



Any selection you make can be drag & dropped/copy-pasted into the main mods materials folder.

Overwrite



Keep in mind, the HUD does not go into the main materials folder. It will instead go in:

materials - vgui

Once you have finished making all your choices, you want to copy and paste the entire materials folder to the Zoey version.

They share the same file path, so you have to make them the same. You might not see what you want in-game.

You will also want to unsubscribe or uncheck the mod from the in-game addons list from this point on.



Note: The VGui names for textures are different for Rochelle/Zoey

Producer = Rochelle
Teenangst = Zoey

Now that you are finished, you can drag the folders back onto vpk.exe.



They will recompile back into vpk's. You can rename them to whatever you like

Since these are not automatically downloaded through Steam Workshop, you're going to have to manually install them.



Head to File Explorer

Go to: Steam - steamapps - common - Left 4 Dead 2 - left4dead2 - addons

Place them in here. NOT workshop folder.

Create an addons folder shortcut on your desktop. You're done.
