Ascot's Abandoned Arena

As you arrived it started to snow. It never usually snows here but when it does it's a delight to wander around in the snow. The area was much larger than what your father described but certainly smaller than the new arena. The front and back entrance were locked so you resorted to the side entrance which was oddly unlocked. Mock-up buildings were covered in all sorts of grime and graffiti, people had slept here and there was a lot of trash. Turns out this place still has a very lively audience, just not the typical kind.

One of Ascot's older buildings that have been left to rot for the last few decades. The 40 year old arena used to be a very popular place for tourists, paintball and Airsoft matches. Over time however, the company in charge of the arena (which no one knows who they are or what they do) had made questionable decisions from confusing layout changes, lowering the pay-rate of employees who worked there and generally being very disrespectful to tourists. Less and less players showed up and the arena slowly decayed as all the employees working there had quit for greener pastures.

Eventually, reports of live firearms and ammo found in the arena's storage circulated all over Ascot which led authorities to confiscating even more live firearms. The arena's owner tried to calm things down but the damage was already done and the arena was closed soon after. A new arena has been constructed not far from where the old one is located. The arena now sits as Ascot's currently most popular place while the old arena has been left to dust, rotting, decaying and being occasionally visited by veterans.

This was a very odd map to work on and had an unusually smooth development which I did not expect at all. It started out during the production of another map as just a random idea. But as I needed another map to come out to satisfy the hunger of even more scenic maps, I started production of this map sooner than I thought. This map I feel is pretty much unsuited for actual multiplayer matches as I have no experience in creating maps for competitive games at all. The map came along as a variety of inspirations that came from different sources of media (music, games, movies, etc) and I finished the map earlier than I thought. 8 days.

Also I FINALLY figured out how to put in custom decals. yay
