World Map Basics
Things you need to know about various objectives around the map.

Basic minimap objects:

Press ESC to open the map.

1. Spawn points; The name says it all. These are the locations that the monsters will spawn each wave. Marked by the red skulls.

2.Radars; Represented by the blue radar symbol, when activated it will track enemies in its range. Useful for tracking bosses on later waves. Also give some xp upon activation.

3. STROL; Represented by the red egglike image on the minimap. Each STROL destroyed will reduce the monster hp by 1%. Destroy all 20 to recieve bonus xp from the secondary mission.

4. Marines; Blue human figures. Looting a marine or a veteran marine gives 3 clips worth of ammo + some energy for your suit. Veterans also might contain a rare item.

5. Power Stations; Blue boxes. Turn on the lights, power up turrets if any and gain an armor boost and some xp

6. Various missions; Represented by yellow glowing dots. From primary to secondary missions

World Map:

The general gameplay area.

What to do after a landing.

Except running around like a lunatic doing missions helps to gain experience.

Primary Missions: Main missions that advance the story in multiplayer give upon completition, various buffs for a limited time.

Note: Evacuation is dependent on the level of the primary mission done. Not doing the first mission triggers an early evac on wave 8 or wave 11 on fast mode. Further progress will result in post wave 15 missions and will delay the evac.

Secondary Missions: Vary from killing things to activating or deactivating stuff. Various bonuses as a reward, most notable xp. They vary from finding all the marines to destroying all the STROL or activating all the turrets.

Lootable Items: Lockers ,rubble, marines. The loot table is located in these. From ammo to explosives to more exotic items.

Buildings: Some items spawn only inside some only outside buildings. Batteries and STROL are only in. Batteries increase your energy level allowing for more skills, 50% energy gained is also recieved by the team. Note: some skills cannot be used inside.

Interactive Objects:

As said turrets, power stations, radars, marines, STROL etc.

Each serves a purpose.

In addition to those there are various types of explosive containers, toxic and flame barrels and gas cylinders.

Barrels can be THROWN. Throw to create a death trap in narrow corners or group monsters, to kill with explosive damage.

Gameplay Basics
Controls:
Move by right clicking, select things by left clicking.
Left click uses items in the inventory, right drops them. Note: some items also need an additional left click on a target to use.

R to reload, C to switch fire modes, Q to switch weapons, F to throw a flare, Y to sprint (or Z)

X drops the ammo in the selected weapon, N locks the camera on your character, or a spectated one, SPACE centers the camera on your character.

U, I and O toggles tooltips over items and monsters

E for Auto-Aim

Holding SHIFT allows for manual targeting, also mandatory for some weapons, and increases damage on some by 20%.

Combat:

Don't get hit.

In addition to reducing your armor and health it also has a chance of applying an ailment.

Ailments include various poisons, bleeds and fractures.

If you can't kill it fast run away or team up, weapon switching also helps.

Don't waste explosives, just because that thing is big it doesnt mean another bigger one isn't around the corner.

Don't waste ammo on bosses; use explosives instead.

Strategy:

Systematic exploration of the map.

If you're sure split up into smaller teams and divide the search areas, if not stay together.

Piling up stuff in your inventory serves no one, have a designated drop off zone.

Activate what can be activated, with bonus xp gain it is possible to get over 3000 xp in a normal game, provided it is a full evac.

Watch out for Friendly Fire, explosive weapons and stationary explosives will kill you and your teammates, try to avoid that, if unavoidable use the sacrifice in an effective manner.

Lastly DON'T GET CORNERED, unless you know what you are doing.

Great guide man, its just I never really see any teamwork or communication going on unless you're playing with friends. Playing with randoms is akin to being a Colonial Marine during the drop to Acheron (LV-426). Still I hope to see another guide in the future, keep up the great work man!
