Counter Strike: Source textures using Steam CMD
By dampmailman
This short tutorial removes the pink and black textures that many multiplayer maps default to in Garry's Mod when without the textures of Counter-Strike: Source and replaces them with the original textures.

Step One: Basic SteamCMD Installation
First, we need a program called SteamCMD. SteamCMD is a version of the Steam client purpose-built for those who need to install dedicated servers in a command-line interface. In this case, we can use it for textures to be used in our game. It's available from the Valve Developer Community using the link below.

https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/client/installer/steamcmd.zip

Extract the file in a separate folder and open it.
The SteamCMD will update, wait until the update is ready.

Step Two: Downloading the Counter-Strike textures to our computer
We will use 3 commands to download files.

The first command will be "login anonymous".

The second command is "force_install_dir ./Css/", this command will not give any confirmation that it was executed.

The third command will be "app_update 232330".

Note: Do not include the quotation marks.

By completing the third command, begin to download the CSS files (~ 2GB).
Wait until completion.
Step Three: Moving the files
The folder where we will extract some files:
steam\steamapps\common\garrysmod\garrysmod\addons\

Create a folder "CSS - Content" name.

Go to the "css" folder located in the extracted SteamCMD folder (that will be the files that we downloaded) and open the "csstrike" folder and move the folder, maps and all files "cstrike_pak" to the folder "CSS - Content".
Step Four: Extraction
Finally, we have to extract all the files.

Go to the directory of your Steam installation and find the following:
steam\steamapps\common\garrysmod\bin\
And cstrike_pak_dir.vpk, drag the file from the folder "CSS - Content" on the executable vpk.exe which will say "Open with vpk.exe".

This will extract everything to a folder called "cstrike_pak_dir" in "CSS - Contents" folder.
Open the folder and move all the folder inside the folder "CSS - Content".
Then delete the folder "cstrike_pak_dir".

This guide is written very roughly,
You have to run force install BEFORE logging in.

Create a folder "CSS - Content" name d .

and open the "csstrike" folder. Now move that folder maps and all files ... (Needs a period, run on sentence) Also csstrike does not exist anymore.

Go to directory of Gmod could have steps on how to do it through UI and more specific steps to move to the bin folder.

I saw people confused about dragging it on to the vpk.exe file aswell but I think there's nothing you can do to make that more clear

followed the guide step by step until cmd download where the file wont show up in the designated folder guide said it would show up in. tried downloading again to no avail, checked comments, replicated what they did as well to also no avail. now i have like 10 gb of bloatware somewhere

obsolete method that would probably work if i was more patient, but youre better off downloading from a site like gmodaddons or smth.

small tip: instead of extracting the vpk files, you can use mount.cfg in your garrysmod/garrymod/cfg/ folder! just point it to your steamcmd's cstrike folder.

Okay, so I downloaded everything, but for some reason, the textures are in a mesh instead of actually appearing.
