Comprehensive Game Guide

First things first, selecting a planet. Choosing something abundant in resources is great but the first thing you will need is clay for bricks. So I like the grass planets.
Following this, you need to build your space station, city center, houses, and other buildings you're shown in the tutorial. Once you have enough housing and power and things seem to make sense, you will likely notice your credits going down. DO NOT PANIC. All you have to do is level up your housing to the next tier... You will want to attract "Developers" first which is shown by the [</>] symbol in game. To do that you need to make sure that your city center orientation is to the left or the "Science" side and upgrade your houses which you were shown in the tutorial (Needs enough cotton and clothes, vegetables, and a pub next to the houses). When you have about 300 "Developers" you should be good to go and unlock more buildings.
Now you may notice that you don't have the resources that you need on your planet to move on... That's okay. Just find a planet that does have the resource you need, load your ship up by putting it over your Space Station via the left click system, click onto your ship and click the icon in the bottom right corner to load items into it. You need to have plenty of bricks and preferably some steel beams to build another Space Station on the planet you chose, another city center, houses, and for whatever mining building and power sources you will need. Then you can set a trade route between your two colonies or planets and transfer resources however you need. Do this by choosing your two colonies, a ship which will transfer the items, and which resources you want traded. Under the resources you will also need to select whether or not the ship is loading at that location or unloading.
With this completed you will want to go back to your main colony (at least that's what I did) and make another city center and housing development. This time, set the city center orientation to "Military" to attract mechanics once you follow the steps to make your houses tier two. Once you do this, you will unlock some more buildings and viola, build the new buildings you've unlocked and you're as far in the game as you can be.
