How to farm lums and collect 1 million lums faster ("Sooo rich!" achievement)
By Black Heretic
Collecting 1000000 lums can be a difficult and tedious task to fulfil. Here are two methods to speed things up.

1. Introduction
Rayman Legends is a great game, but I think many players (myself included) would have gladly done without the “Sooo rich!” achievement, which requires you to collect 1 million lums. Even though lums are scattered throughout the game and you'll probably get a good amount of them just by playing regularly, not even a complete playthrough (all levels, all teensies, all lucky tickets, level 10 "Awesomeness", etc) is usually enough to reach such a remarkable goal. For this reason, I decided to create this guide and provide two methods to speed up the collection of lums, hoping to save you a few hours of tedious farming.
2. Requirements and general info
For the purpose of the guide, in the next sections I'll refer to the first method as "the Rayman way", and to the second method as "the Raymesis way", but please note that you can use whatever character you prefer for both methods. The former is slower, but only requires the level Mariachi Madness to be unlocked (in the Fiesta de los Muertos world), while the latter is way faster, but requires a well-populated creatures gallery (the more, the better) and also involves a little trick outside of the game (with minimum risks). I measured the efficiency of each method in "lums/s" (contraction of "lums per second") so that you can easily compare them, but keep in mind that some time and patience are still mandatory whichever method you choose.
3. The Rayman way (legit, but slower)
The first method is quite easy and straightforward: it consists in repeatedly playing Mariachi Madness, the third music level of the game.

Mariachi Madness includes 708 lums and takes about 1:40 minutes, resulting in a good ratio of about 7 lums/s. The level is quick, enemies/obstacles are not very dangerous, and lums are generally easy to collect. Many players suggest this level as the best one for farming lums, and I tend to agree.

In addition, don't forget to visit the creatures gallery once a day and get all the lums/coins, for a welcome daily bonus of lums.
4. The Raymesis way (shady, but faster)
The second method allows to speed up the spawning of lums in the creatures gallery, using a "time-travel" trick. In fact, shifting the system/computer date by 1 day (back or forward) makes the creatures generate all the lums again, without even having to exit the gallery first: the game pauses as soon as the related window loses focus, and lums spawn again as soon as the game resumes.

Since a full gallery grants 972 lums and collecting them is a matter of seconds, the result is an impressive lums/s ratio. The actual ratio depends on how many creatures are in the gallery and how fast you go through the 3 steps: collecting all the lums, changing the system date, and getting back to the gallery for a new harvest.

Here are some tips, based on my experience:
  • Playing in "windowed" mode (and at low/medium resolution) can reduce the time for switching between the game window and the date/time settings window. Keeping the two windows close to each other might be good too.
  • After a few tries, I decided to focus on the skull coins since they represent the largest contribution to each crop. This way I was also able to produce new crops sooner.
  • Being consistent is the key. Some crops will be slower than others, because of inaccurate moves or missed lums/coins (or accumulated boredom). Getting 1 million lums takes time, it's better to take a break in case of bad performance.
For reference, I was able to settle on an average of 100 thousand lums every 30 minutes, which is about 55 lums/s.

Finally, here are some "safety" tips:
  • I made sure of setting the date so that it was always prior to the actual current day. Although not mandatory, I just preferred to avoid travel into the future. 🔮
  • If shifting the date doesn't work and no lums spawn, try to shift the time too (a few hours should be enough). This expedient also solved some random issues I encountered during my tests: in such cases, give it a try.
  • In general, be aware of what you are doing and do it with caution. Although no issues occur usually, weird things can happen when changing the system date/time (ex. websites not working, apps crashing, data desynchronizing). Do some trial runs and check that everything else still works properly, before proceeding with the actual method.
5. Conclusion
Thank you for reading this far, I really appreciate it!

Also just 100% the game. I'm only 1/3 of the way through and have 20 out of 60 pets and I already have more than 80000 lums. Or you could just edit the amount of lums you have in the files or use cheat engine to change the amount of lums.

@xavigalindo1403: In a nutshell, the second method consists of changing the system date (that of the computer), moving it forward or backward by at least one day. By doing so, the creatures generate lums and coins again, avoiding the normal waiting time. To change the system date, operating systems usually have dedicated menus (e.g. in Windows 11 it is in Settings -> Time & language ).

@Joblesscobra I just tested it and it still works. Did you turn 'set time automatically' off? Did you move the time forward by at least a full day?

Also, UPlay might mess up the creatures, as I'm playing without UPlay. Maybe try it again after bypassing UPlay (or Ubisoft Connect or whatever they call that trash).

Changing time doesn't work. I also noticed the creatures don't spawn new lums even if I wait a day or two

Just did this achievement the Rayman way and my god is it awful... 75 hours in total for all the achievements, 30 hours just playing mariachi madness over 700 times... My only tip is to keep pushing, play some music in the background, and just zone out....

Thanks for making this guide btw, you made the process of 100%ing this game a lot easier.

@nintendoboy920: understood, glad the guide was helpful for a non-Steam user too. I don't know if the method is as practical as on PC, but it will definitely save you some time.

Hey so, I tried it and yes the Ray Nemesis way does work on the Switch version.
