LLLL - Modest Extra Skill Points exclusively for LEGENDARY Lords - Vampire Counts.

Description
  • Boosts only Legendary Lords!
  • 10 of their skills awarded (mostly by level 17) for free as you level.
  • Zero changes to Standard Lords.
  • Effectively 1.2 skill points per level. 49 :> 59

This makes Legendary Lords the impactful without trivialising your campaign.
Light weight, save game compatible, works WITH mods that award bonus skill points per level and skill dump mods.

Loreful and legendary, Legendary Lords - A skill points mod!
Vampire Counts.
Features
  • 10 Free Skill Points only for Mannfred, Vlad, Heinrich, Ghorst & Isabella as they level naturally.
  • Many free Skill Points for Legendary Heroes, Vlad & Isabella.
  • All general skills that required 4+ prior investment points (Foe Seeker/Rally! etc) now only require 3 for LL's.
  • A terrific sense of awesomeness as you play!
That's it! No extra bloat, allowing for good mod compatibility. You can stop reading now if you're not interested in my explanatory waffle and reasoning below.

A 'pure' version is available that ONLY grants unique skills to LL's.

Methodology

LL's have 20% more skill points versus standard lords, making LL's truly feel like powerful, dynamic entities, while differentiating them from standard Lords. AI LL's + confederated LL's should earn & keep awarded skills.
Skills are awarded FREE at the level they merely unlocked in vanilla, most powerful skills are chosen first in general.

First a neat little change, that makes node tiers only require 3 points for LL's, EG:

For a more detailed look at the reasoning for this decision and into the WHY of which skills are awarded when, please see this section for Sisters in the WE mod and/or
Kholek in the WoC mod. Below is Vlads unique skill line for comparison.

But for Vampire Counts this space is better utilised talking about VC specifics and... oddities.
1st up Vlad and Isabella as heroes. They get 90% of the free skills their Lord versions get, welcome, but unavoidable at anyrate, in order to keep this mod lightweight as their hero and lord versions share the same ability names in the tables.

Another thing is Vlad and Isabella Von Carstein share their ability 'Storm the Night" not only with each other, but with the Blood Kiss Vampire Von Carstein Lords as well, meaning BK VonC Lords get 'Storm the Night' free as well. Annoying but minimal impact, but check the pure version if u care. Onto the Lords

Vlad's skill tree on turn one. 6 in his unique skill line, and 2 above; Diviner and Lore of Vampires, awarded at level 9. To flesh out these 8 skills to 10, Vlad gets Aura of Supremacy and The Restless Dead on turn 1.

Isabella only has 7 unique skills, 6 in her line, and Queen Bee above. She also gets Aura of Supremacy and The Restless Dead on turn 1, totalling 9. For her 10th LLLL gives her the thematic skill bonus to fel bats from the red-line. Ghorst is the same, but gets 1 point in zombies instead.

Heinrich Kemmlers turn one LLLL Skill Tree:

Following the pattern, he only has 6 unique abilities which he receives, + the 2 standards, Aura & Movement%, his final 2 are kept thematic, 2 points boosting the redline hex/cairnwraiths.

The Doozy in amongst this, is the main man himself, Mannfred, the true Von Carstein! On turn 1 with LLLL:

Turn 1! WoW right? Turns out Mannfred doesn't really have any unique skills, just the two Loremaster abilities at the top, awarded by LLLL on level 9. He does though uniquely amongst Vampire Count Lords have Death Magic. They're unique to him as a LL which fit the theme of this mod, so, in they go! Adding generic abilities turn by turn is beyond the scope of this mod. So 7 death, 2 loremaster and his 10th and final skill point goes to movement%.

Is he imbalanced for turn 1? For sure, but there are only so many WoM available early so I'm not thinking its as bad as it looks, and all other Lords in LLLL (all mods) catch up skill point wise by turn 17, so not that big of a deal.

If you don't like it, check the 'pure' version.

Balance
Obviously this mod is a buff, but at effectively 1.2 skill points per level extra, for only Legendary Lords I think it's reasonable/not OP. They are however quite front-loaded, especially Manny and the duo, unavoidable sadly. Fighting other Vampire Count LL's will prove more challenging!, with less room for dumb AI skill point choices. Install the WoC and WE versions for true balance!

Compatability and Technical
Lightweight, compatible with other mods such as one extra skill points per level, and ones that change skill trees/add skills, so long as they don't change the name of existing skills. LLLL does not need a skill dump(mod).

Save game compatible, can add or remove at any time, skill points will be awarded retroactively if earnt and remain, if earned, upon mod uninstallation.

Modifies only 3 tables: character_skill_level_details_tables, character_skill_nodes_tables, and character_skills_to_level_reached_criterias_tables.

A 'pure' version is available that ONLY grants the unique skills to LL's. No heroes, No reduced cost of nodes from 4/6 down to 3.

For deeper reading in choices the mod makes, see examples on Wood Elves or Warriors of Chaos pages.

It'll be out today :)
Doing it this way meant each section got the community once-over in neat small easy diagnoseable chunks. Thanks for the comment! Only my second on like 30+ mods lol.

I'm not sure if you've made it yet, but have you thought of making a Compilation of all the ones you have, and then adding in others as you do them?
