This map had several changes made for the official release of the Scream Fortress 2024 update. We will leave the previous version of this map as the download of this workshop item (cp_darkmarsh_event_rc4). Click "Subscribe" to download it.




The first 3 might've sunk into the swamp, but this one stands strong! Which team will be able to conquer the mightiest castle in Darkmarsh? you'd be the judge in this original 3 capture point attack-defence map featuring a withering town, a desolated greenhouse and the gothiest gothic castle you have ever seen!

yeahh i realise why the push trigger is there, i just meant to say the angle of the force is a bit troll, getting sent into the pit. it's still miles better than clipping it off. I adore the movement options on the map, jumping around the death pits either with a pumpkin or sync jump, double stick or the vertical jump boost spell (or some combination thereof). it's a cool extra layer, it's always cool to discover when a map has a pit that connects areas like that. or really disappointing when a map has a pit that visually connects areas but then it's clipped off

my issue with the railing is mostly that the pumpkins become splashbuggable, it's ultimately a minor nitpick and probably doesn't actually need changing. before the update, i used to think the pumpkin spawns were too blu-sided (hard for red players to get frags with them) but after the changes this seems to be good now, since theyre place more generously

You mean the trigger push above the green house roof? If its that, then yeah it might be a bit tall, since is to avoid people staying there by just jumping over the trigger. And why a trigger push and not a clip? Well I thought it would be kinda annoying for jumping demos to dodge such a low roof

I agree that the contract hate was a bit exaggerated maybe, but I also understand that the map had too few pumpkin bomb spawns. So I raised that, and now the amount of them seems mostly fine, I would need more feedback on that, but they were a lot more before I changed it last minute before the next update lol

Btw the reason that some pumpkin bombs are placed on the railings toward the cliff is to avoid players getting stuck on them when they spawn, since they have a odd placement and are not in a corner, they serve the same purpose, doesn't affect splash or anything, they are just a bit higher up

the contract cope is rly weird, especially since the recent update the pumpkin bomb frags are free. imo there are too many pumpkins now, but i suppose that's subjective. the placement of the pumpkins is largely stellar, though i think the pumpkin around first could be moved back to its original position. it's now stood on the railing when at first it was just in the corner. other than that i have few gripes with the map. the push trigger on 1st being pointed into the pit is a bit troll but oh well. hope Paris gets added into the game too. more mappers should make maps like this, that appeal to every class, as opposed to dustbowl clone esque maps that are unplayable for a large part of the roster

All i can say about this map is, despite this map being just, halloween version of "france", the view, graphics are astonishing, gameplay is somewhat serviceable, but yes, the contract is what makes it difficult for me to appreciate this map, and the contract for this map is also in the way of other contract maps aswell

I think the contract objectives are fine, the objectives are generic, since this map doesn't have much gimmicky stuff
Mappers don't make the contracts, only Valve

Love the aestethic. But oh my God. The contract is PAINFUL. Can it be changed to "capture or defend" point?
